Design & Construction
Designed around a steel hull and superstructure she features a 11.9m beam and a 4.5m draft. The yacht has an internal volume of 1,259 GT (Gross Tonnes).
Exterior Design
Jester's exterior design reflects as its origins as an Ice Class hydrographic survey vessel, built to endure harsh conditions. During its extensive refit at Pendennis Shipyard, significant updates were made to enhance its functionality and aesthetic appeal. Over 130 tonnes of steel were replaced to address corrosion, and the vessel was fully refaired and repainted. A new stern tube was installed, housing upgraded components like bearings and seal boxes, and the propeller shaft.
The exterior features a crane aft, a full dive room, and a hydraulically operated cargo hatch for toys and tenders. The bridge deck aft was transformed with synthetic Bolidt flooring mimicking teak, providing a versatile space used for various activities, such as an outdoor cinema or gym.
Jester's highest point, the monkey island, is used as a viewing platform, offering guests views of the surroundings. This area includes custom sunpads around the funnel, which also provides extra storage.
Interior Design
The interior design of Jester reflects a relaxed and airy ambiance, achieved through thoughtful use of materials and space planning. The guest areas feature finishes in limed oak, complemented by a neutral color palette with occasional bursts of color to create a visually pleasing environment.
Designers RWD addressed the challenges posed by the vessel's existing commercial structure, including low ceilings and curved floors. To maximize space and efficiency, the air conditioning system was cleverly integrated into the walls rather than the ceilings. The upper deck underwent significant redesign, with the previous captain's cabin transformed into a bar area, becoming a favored spot for the owners.
The bridge area was redesigned with a focus on functionality and guest interaction. It includes a large table and sofa, providing a space for meetings and for guests to enjoy the views.
The explorer room near the bridge serves a dual purpose as a planning area for adventures and an indoor dining space. A world map with magnetic glass opens to reveal a large television screen.
Accommodation
The yacht Jester provides accommodation designed to cater to the needs of its guests and crew with efficiency and comfort. The vessel is equipped to host a total of 12 guests and comprises five well-appointed cabins. The use of limed oak and white timber overheads in the cabins contributes to a light and open atmosphere.
