Design & Construction

Designed around a displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 10.82m beam and a 6.6m draft. The yacht is built over 4 decks with an internal volume of 1,255 GT (Gross Tonnes).

Launched in April 1921 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months.

Exterior Design

The SS Delphine's exterior design is both functional and spacious, offering a balance between interior and exterior areas. Her teak deck spans 12,000 square feet across three levels, providing ample space for various activities such as receptions, fashion shows, and trade exhibitions. The promenade deck, true to its name, is designed for hosting large gatherings and offers a generous area for guests to enjoy.

The full walk-round decks on both the main and promenade levels ensure easy movement around the yacht, while the wide superstructure allows for large interior rooms. The main deck features an emergency steering wheel that can be used manually, and the forward section includes a small steam engine that drives the horizontal anchor capstan on the deck above.

SS Delphine's lido deck includes a swimming pool with an artificial current, a bar, a sunpad area, and comfortable deck chairs. Forward on this level is the pilothouse, which combines original and modern features. The promenade deck also boasts the largest outdoor table on the yacht, seating 28 guests, as well as a smaller round table for more intimate gatherings.

Delphine's profile is distinctive, with a concave stem that makes her easily recognizable in any port. Her three original boats, including a 35ft 6in cabin launch, serve as tenders and can be hoisted to the promenade deck by traditional davits. The restoration of SS Delphine has preserved these unique features, maintaining her historical and functional integrity.

Interior Design

Upon boarding the aft main deck, guests first encounter the music room. This space, once home to an Aeolian pipe organ, now features a bar paneled in Padouk (Burmese rosewood). The bar is backed by a grille, reminiscent of the original organ pipes, and displays the Dodge family crest. Seating is ample and comfortable, and a baby grand piano is available for live music, preserving the room's musical heritage.

Adjacent to the music room is the main entrance lobby. This area includes staircases leading down to the guest accommodations and up to the Delphine Lounge. The Delphine Lounge is divided into two sections by a central portico and is paneled in bubinga wood. The forward section serves as a lounge and cinema, equipped with a large television screen hidden behind an oil painting. The other half of the room is a piano bar with a Yamaha piano that can play automatically. The bar also has an outdoor section that serves the promenade deck.

The main deck also houses the dining room, a space rich in decoration and functionality. The room is paneled with cherry wood and features a central dome-like ceiling designed by Tiffany's. Instead of one large dining table, three large round tables and two smaller ones provide adequate seating for guests. This arrangement reflects the yacht's historical use while accommodating modern needs.

The smoking room, located upstairs from the dining room, has been faithfully reproduced to match its original design. This room, furnished with overstuffed leather armchairs, provides a comfortable setting for relaxation, reading, or watching TV.

Accommodation

The SS Delphine offers ample accommodation for up to 26 guests, making it an excellent choice for corporate or special-interest groups. The yacht's layout features several cabins designed to provide comfort and privacy.

The owner's cabin is remarkably spacious and features high-gloss 'flame' mahogany paneling. Furnished in the French Empire style, it includes distinctive winged chairs and an escritoire. The ensuite bathroom is luxurious, with a floor of onyx and white marble counters, offering both a full-size bath and a shower. Two VIP guest cabins are located on the main deck, forward of the lobby.

The remaining guest accommodation is situated on a lower deck, accessible from the main entrance hallway. This area includes nine cabins with various arrangements, akin to what one might expect from a high-quality hotel. Each cabin is equipped with an ensuite bathroom, television, music center, refrigerator, air-conditioning, and ample storage space. Cabins one and two are slightly larger, situated in a wider part of the hull. Additionally, there is a cabin with four bunks, suitable for children or personal staff.

She is also capable of carrying up to 27 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.
