Design & Construction

Designed around a displacement steel hull and superstructure with teak and steel decks, Turama was originally a cruise ship. Construction began in late 1989 and was launched in January 1990. The yacht, featuring a 17.22m beam and a 4.38m draft was built over six decks with an internal volume of 8,343 GT (Gross Tonnes).

Her conversion began in 2004 by the Finnish shipyard Rauma.

Exterior Design

Turama's exterior is characterized by a deep dark blue hull with a raked bow and a short foredeck. It is a design for a yacht accommodating a high guest capacity. The mast stands prominently, and the foredeck is bustling with deck hardware and anchoring equipment, with a focus on it operating as a functional space.

Aft decks are dedicated to guest relaxation, featuring pools, separate jacuzzis, sun loungers, and bistro tables. Despite the luxurious amenities, these spaces maintain an intimate atmosphere rather than an expansive one. Side balconies provide guest access to water sports and transfers.

The upper deck houses the yacht's hardware, including a helipad, essential life rafts for the number of guests and crew onboard, and rescue vessels on davits integrated into the superstructure under prominent arches. This top deck serves both form and function, with the helipad providing a practical element, compromising the space's potential as a sun deck.

In essence, Turama's exterior design aligns seamlessly with its purpose—a yacht crafted with a specific and well-defined intention, carrying a large number of guests in style and luxury.

Turama is designed to be practical, durable, and inviting, offering a harmonious blend of performance and guest comfort.

Interior Design

The materials chosen throughout Turama's spaces are a testament to both quality and the creation of an inviting atmosphere. A robust framework is formed by high-grade steel, while the extensive teak decking imparts warmth and traditional charm to the floors.

The main salon stands as the social hub, featuring a lounge area, dance floor, and a piano for musical entertainment. Thoughtful arrangement of furnishings encourages conversation and relaxation, complemented by a large plasma TV for visual entertainment.

Moving into the main dining room, seating for up to 104 guests underscores Turama's capacity for hosting significant events. The room is equipped with a large plasma TV for presentations or entertainment during meals. The color scheme introduces a blend of blue and lilac in the seating against teak wall styling. Lounging and bar areas feature a mix of seating, including Mozart-style chairs in stained wood with rattan and soft cushions for comfort.

For corporate needs or private screenings, the cinema, adorned in smart royal blue and dark wood wall furniture against deep cream panels, doubles as a conference room. It offers a secluded space for presentations or film viewings. Similarly, the meeting room is designed for board meetings or intimate business discussions, featuring essential amenities for productivity.

The master cabin, set on dark wooden floors, creates a striking contrast against textured walls in warm brown. Curved wood forms a stylish and substantial coving leading to plain ceilings with inset lights. Luxurious rugs introduce a deep burgundy, carried through with cushions and throws to blend easily.

Abstract and plentiful artwork adds a touch of sophistication.

The children's playroom is well-equipped with a piano and video game system, ensuring younger guests stay engaged and entertained in a dedicated space. Turama is a vessel designed to cater to various needs, offering both luxurious ambiance and functionality.
