The first-ever Qatar Boat Show opens today in the country's capital Doha, set in the Old Doha Port. The area, known for its surrounding cobbled streets and pastel-colored buildings, has been transformed from a historic commercial hub into a vibrant and modern port.
Taking place from November 6-9, 2024, the boat show is expected to attract over 20,000 visitors from around the world and features more than 495 brands, and 95 boats, yachts, and watercraft.
The Qatar Boat Show
The show is divided into several sections and includes a shoreline display for tenders and sportsboats for sale, and an oceanic display for larger boats and yachts. There are also a plethora of exhibitions featuring fishing and diving equipment, and a Splash Zone where visitors can try watersports such as jet skiing or paddleboarding.
Prominent superyacht manufacturers attending the inaugural show include Benetti, Feadship, Heesen Yachts, and Oceanco. Builder Sunreef Yachts is also presenting the catamaran ATHENA TOO, an 80 Sunreef Power Eco model that recently won the 'Motor Yacht (under 25m)' category at The International Yacht & Aviation Awards 2024.
Gulf Craft is also exhibiting an impressive lineup of yachts at the Qatar Boat Show including the brand's flagship Majesty 120 and Majesty 111 models. The exhibit also features the Majesty 100, Majesty 72, and Majesty 60 yachts. Adding to the showcase are the Nomad 95, Nomad 65, Nomad 70 SUV, and Nomad 75, each selected to align with the Qatari market's demand for luxurious explorer yachts and superyachts.
If luxury motor yachts aren't your thing, then Naskilat Damen Shipyard's support vessels 72m (235ft) DALOOB and its sistership 72m (235ft) UM ALHOUL are also on show.
The Largest Superyacht: 91m MOONLIGHT II
The largest superyacht currently attending the Qatar Boat Show is the 91m (299ft) motor yacht MOONLIGHT II, built by Neorion in 2005. The superyacht can accommodate a whopping 36 guests across its 18 cabins, supported by an additional 36 crew members.
Since September 2020, MOONLIGHT II has sat at #79 within the YachtBuyer YB100 — the true measure of the world’s largest yachts — thanks to its enormous internal volume of 3,052 Gross Tonnes (GT).
Last refitted in 2020, the superyacht for sale features a sundeck with a convertible helicopter pad that doubles as a sunbathing area, two bar areas, and a spa pool. Moving inside, the yacht's upper deck boasts a cinema, two expansive saloons, and a formal dining room. The lower deck is dedicated to health and wellness, featuring a spa with a jacuzzi, saunas, steam rooms, a cold plunge pool, and treatment rooms.
MOONLIGHT II is currently for sale, for an asking price of €68,000,000.
Qatar is anticipated to become a prime destination for superyacht cruises, driven by projected increases in consumer spending power, which is expected to reach between 73 and 90 billion US dollars by the end of 2029. The region already offers approximately 1,877 yacht berths, with 108 berths designed specifically for 40-160m superyachts.
