First announced to the press in 2019 she went into development later the same year and the first model rolled off the production line in 2021.

She can comfortably maintain a cruising speed of 30 knots via her twin 542hp Cummins QSB6.7 550mhp engines. In terms of range, the Viking Yachts 38BF has a standard range of 366 nautical miles (nm).
