Aquila Boats History & Heritage
In 2012, the visionary collaboration of Lex Raas, Bill McGill (CEO of MarineMax), and the Xiong family gave birth to Aquila, an exclusive venture dedicated entirely to power cats.
The inception of this partnership coincided with Sino Eagle Group's construction of the Aquila 38, tailored for MarineMax's innovative charter business, MarineMax Vacations. Sino Eagle Group, in collaboration with J&J Design Group, Seaway, and MarineMax, embarked on a joint venture to diversify the Aquila range, resulting in the creation of the groundbreaking Aquila 48 – the inaugural true Aquila Power Catamaran.
Over the years, the Aquila lineup has flourished, now offering models ranging from 28 to 70 feet.
Headquartered in Hangzhou City, China, Sino Eagle Group, renowned for high-tech composite manufacturing, established a dedicated Aquila factory, equipping the brand with comprehensive in-house manufacturing capabilities.
This commitment expanded further with the development of a sprawling 27-acre (110,000 m²) site, featuring four expansive construction buildings, an indoor test pool, riverside launching facilities, and a state-of-the-art administration block. The Aquila factory stands as a true embodiment of cutting-edge technology, earning the descriptor "state-of-the-art" in every sense.
While eschewing full automation, the Aquila factory boasts a skilled workforce of 510 artisan tradesmen and administrative staff. In alignment with eco-friendly practices, the factory is designed with a "green" ethos, featuring expansive solar panels atop the roof, designated cutting rooms equipped with powerful evacuation fans to combat dust accumulation, and a sophisticated greywater filtration system. A quote from the sales manager puts it very simply “We believe that the cleaner the environment in the factory, the better the quality of the parts and ultimately the better the finish of the multihulls”.
