The Azimut 40 is the boat that really opens this Azimut flybridge collection which is modelled after traditional flybridge motor-yachts: it is a great cruiser, with plenty of space inside and out, and comfort levels that reflect years of refinement. This line has been the focus of the Avigliana boatyard since the very beginning, forming the basis for its considerable experience. The Azimut 40 embodies all the line’s key stylistic elements; the overall design concept is by Stefano Righini and interior design by Carlo Galeazzi. The goal was maximum liveability, and the result is one of the most comprehensive in this popular market sector. The Azimut 40 has a large boat owner's cabin in the bow and a cabin with twin beds amidships, each with a private bathroom. This level of privacy makes the boat suitable for families as well as couples. The amidships area is extremely bright thanks to the large panoramic window in the guest cabins and the light filtering through the windscreen which illuminates the galley.
Another strong point of the Azimut 40 is the large living area on the main deck where light, air, and space once again take centre stage and give the impression that the boat is much larger than it actually is; it is a clever use of space and windows, with the dinette sofa converting into an extra bed and the table seating six. The interior design incorporates the light, honey-tone colours of the wood finish and the creamy white of the seating. The lighting uses energy efficient LEDs wherever possible. The faucets have special thermostatic mixing valves to control the temperature, making the most efficient use of the available 400 litres of fresh water. The sinks are Vetrofreddo© and the bathroom floors are teak. Even the flybridge has an airy quality, not to mention the all important feature of having a dinette that can be converted into a sunpad. There is also a bow sunpad on deck. The stern swimming platform is equipped with an electric lifting mechanism for launching the tender. The stern walkway is located off to one side for better cockpit access and distribution.
The Azimut 40 is equipped with two 355 mhp Cummins engines with V-drive transmission that have a top speed of 31 knots and cruising speed (under medium load) of 26 knots. The keel has an approximately 18° stern deadrise, a performance optimising angle which strikes a good compromise between speed and wave cutting ability.
Like every other yacht in the Azimut collection, the Azimut 40 can be fitted with Easy Docking, the computerised system which controls the two engines and bow propeller complete with a joystick to guide the boat into the dock. It can also be fitted with Easy HandlingTM, the cruising assist system which reduces rudder pressure while at speed and improves the turning radius.
