A record number of exhibitors, the unveiling of flagship superyachts and a chance to try your hand at a host of thrilling water sports are expected at boot Düsseldorf 2020 - the world’s biggest indoor boat show.
Having celebrated its 50th anniversary last year, boot Düsseldorf continues to go from strength-to-strength with 1,980 exhibitors and around 250,000 visitors predicted to come through the doors of the Messe Düsseldorf over the show’s nine-day run from 18 January to 26 January.
As ever, the first boat show of the year is expected to be used by the cream of the yachting world to unveil some breathtaking new designs for sale with seven exhibition halls alone dedicated to showcasing the depth, breadth and quality of motorboats, superboats and superyachts.
The whole nautical world on display and many premieres
Prepare to see the whole nautical world on display across 17 exhibition halls and over 220,000 square metres of exhibition space.
With everything from luxury superyachts and big motorboats - many being seen for the first time - right down to stand-up paddleboards, the show really will cater for everyone.
Motoryachts
The newly refurbished Hall 1 at the Messe Düsseldorf will be home to medium sized yachts, between 10 and 20 metres in size, with inboard engines. Visitors will have a unique chance to see some exciting new models on display for the first time.
Outboard engines, sports boats and tow boats
Halls 3 and 4 are the places to go if you are looking to start boating or just want something fun - motorboats with outboard engines, tow boats and pleasure crafts are all on display in these halls.
Premieres here include the W10 from Finnish shipyard Alucat, the Axopar Revolution 37 and the BRABUS Shadow 900.
Hall 3 is also where the new Start Boating area will be located - offering information and advice for newcomers to motorboating as well as an opportunity to try out a 3D motorboating simulator.
Superboats
Luxury tenders, chase and shadow boats take pride of place in the new Superboat Hall in Hall 5.
Much larger and more luxurious than normal tenders, chase or shadow boats have become increasingly popular in recent years, leading to boot Düsseldorf becoming the first first boat show in the world to dedicate a separate hall to them.
Expect to see exclusive brands such as Sacs, Wally, Blue Game, DeAntonio, Boesch, Fjord, Frauscher and Windy on display as well as some of the large serial production shipyards.
Superyacht Show
Halls 6 and 7a are sure to be the real head turners at boot Düsseldorf with a record number of large yachts, between 25 and 30 metres set to be exhibited.
At almost 30 meters the Sanlorenzo SL96Asymmetric model continues the unusual approach to space that the Italian yacht builder began with the SL102Asymmetric. By retaining the gangway only on the starboard side, and removing the one on the port side, around 10 square metres of space is freed up. The asymmetric wonder of this yacht can be seen for the first time at boot Dusseldorf.
The Sunseeker 76 will also have its world premiere at the show, giving visitors the chance to enjoy the deep-C hull design and the unprecedented levels of space offered on her ‘al fresco’ exterior decks.
Occupying the privileged position in Hall 6 will be many other big boats from the likes of Azimut, Princess and Monte Carlo, with everyone who is anyone wanting to display their stunning new builds.
Even better, as the entire show is indoors, you will be able to get closer to some of the world’s finest boats than you are able to at any other boat show.
Surfing, canoeing, diving and more...
The focus is also set to be on fun at boot Düsseldorf 2020 and adrenaline junkies amongst you will have your pick of a range of water sport activities to try.
You will be able to experience the thrill of riding a real deepwater wave on a surfboard, try out indoor canoeing and fishing, visit the Sailing School and take on wakeboarding and skimboarding.
Diving enthusiasts are in for a treat too with a diving pool and a diving tower forming part of what will be the world’s biggest diving trade fair.
Expert advice on offer
Whether you are a boating veteran or looking to get into it for the first time there will be plenty of free, expert advice on offer at the show.
If you are planning a boating holiday, cruising coaches will be able to offer their advice and guidance for free. There are also independent experts on hand for those interested in starting boating and who want to find out more about anything from boating licenses to chartering yachts.
In fact anyone planning any kind of holiday will benefit from the Travel World stage, with a range of tips about holiday destinations, charter and houseboat holidays, emerging and inspiring destinations and more.
And don’t forget to take the opportunity to speak to many of the dealers and manufacturers at the show to get their take on what might be a great option for you if you are considering investing in any kind of boat.
Seminars, talks and international awards
There will also be a full programme of talks and workshops across the nine-days. The centrepiece of which will be a day seminar on all aspects of cruising.
During the show, the internationally revered Yacht Of The Year and Powerboat Of The Year awards will be held.
The ceremony will also include the Ocean Tribute awards for those working for the protection and preservation of the oceans, with the public being invited to cast their votes for the winner for the first time ever.
Getting to the show
Getting to and from the show should be simple with the Messe Düsseldorf located just three kilometres from Düsseldorf Airport and almost as close to Dusseldorf Central Train Station.
Buses and trams run regularly to exhibition and, if you are driving, there are two large car parks just off of Junction 29 on the A44 motorway with free shuttle buses to the door of the show.
