The original design dates back to 2007 but the current generation of MAN’s compact 12-litre, in-line six-cylinder yacht engines have been thoroughly modernised with a 1,800bar common-rail fuel injection system and recently won a design award.
The i6 series delivers a power range of 730-850hp and offers a broad torque plateau, producing 2,450-2,700Nm of torque consistently from 1,200rpm all the way up to 2,100rpm. They’re significantly lighter, cleaner and quieter than the previous generation of engines (R6 series).
