Design & Construction
Designed around a semi-displacement aluminium hull and superstructure she features a 7.3m beam and a 1.98m draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 293 GT (Gross Tonnes).
She was delivered to her owners in October 1989.
Exterior Design
Quantum's aft deck is designed for utility and comfort, featuring a substantial alfresco dining table with wrap-around L-shaped seating complemented by additional chairs, accommodating guests for outdoor meals or casual gatherings. A bar equipped with refrigeration, an ice maker, and a sink serves the area, ensuring refreshments are conveniently at hand.
Notably, the yacht includes a transformer at the stern, serving multiple functions. It acts as a lift mechanism for a tender or jet ski, easing the process of launching and retrieving watercraft. Additionally, the transformer doubles as a passerelle, providing a stable and secure boarding point from the dock. Integrated steps on the transformer allow for easy access to the water and aft deck when partially submerged.
Quantum's side decks terminate at the yacht's mid-section, ensuring unobstructed space for the interior salon while enhancing safety with their depth. Forward, the bow is equipped with essential anchoring gear and features a covered bench seating area, indicating a practical approach to space utilization.
The bridge deck aft offers additional alfresco dining and ample space for storing water toys, including jet skis and a tender, with a crane for deployment. The sundeck includes a jacuzzi, offering a recreational spot with panoramic views.
Interior Design
The main salon presents a clean and expansive area, devoid of side decks, which allows the room to utilize the yacht's full 24-foot beam. Neutral tones and natural light create an inviting atmosphere, while blue accent lighting adds a touch of modern sophistication.
Guests can enjoy entertainment with a large screen TV, conveniently positioned within the salon. Adjacent, a piano serves as a focal point for musical enjoyment and social gatherings. The bespoke furniture arrangement offers generous seating, catered to both relaxation and socializing.
Forward of the main salon, the formal dining area is equipped to host intimate meals with a suitably sized table flanked by storage units on either side. The space is practical yet retains a sense of understated elegance, suitable for various dining occasions.
Transitioning from the main salon, guests are greeted by a display of fine woodwork that houses two wine refrigerators and an array of glassware. This dedicated area serves as an intermediate space, ideal for pre-dinner mingling or post-meal conversations.
The galley, positioned below deck, is a model of efficiency and professionalism. It is split into two distinct areas, ensuring ample space for meal preparation and crew operations. The main galley area is equipped with a full-size fridge and freezer, stacked ovens, a double sink, a cooktop with an overhead vent, and abundant countertop space for culinary activities.
Adjacent to the galley, a secondary prep space is located on the main deck, providing additional amenities such as dishwashers, a trash compactor, an espresso machine, a microwave, and a coffee maker. This setup streamlines service to the dining and salon areas, underscoring the yacht's thoughtful design.
The helm on Quantum offers contemporary navigational equipment and controls, housed within a space where updates are evident despite the yacht's original build date. The captain's office is adjacent to the helm, providing a dedicated workspace with ample visibility and a side access door for easy ingress and egress.
Accommodation
Quantum provides accommodation for up to eight guests across four well-appointed staterooms. The layout includes an owner's suite, two double cabins, and one twin cabin, each designed to deliver a comfortable and relaxed yachting experience. The owner's suite, a highlight of the yacht's accommodations, is exceptionally spacious for a vessel of this size. It features a private lounge area, ample storage options, and large windows that allow for plenty of natural light. The suite also includes an expansive cedar-lined walk-in closet, offering guests a sense of home while at sea.
The owner's suite boasts an extensive ensuite bathroom with a custom-built shower, elegant fixtures, and thoughtful detailing. The fine woodwork and high-quality finishes underscore the suite's attention to detail and craftsmanship.
The additional guest cabins are no less impressive. Each is generously sized and features its own unique touches, including cedar-lined closets and private ensuites. The twin cabin offers two full-sized beds and an ensuite with a shower-tub combination, while the double cabins deliver a luxurious setting with comfortable seating areas and jetted tubs.
For crew accommodation, Quantum is equipped to house up to six crew members, ensuring that all operations onboard are handled smoothly and that guest service is of the highest standard. The crew quarters are well-lit and include necessary amenities, providing a comfortable living space for the team that keeps the yacht running efficiently.
Performance & Capabilities
Quantum's is powered by two robust Detroit Diesel 16V92 engines, each delivering 1,400 horsepower. These allow Quantum to reach a top speed of approximately 17 knots, with a comfortable cruising velocity of 15 knots. At this cruising speed, the vessel achieves an impressive range of around 1,300 nautical miles, providing ample opportunity for extended voyages across the seas. Should the need arise to conserve fuel and extend the range even further, reducing the speed to single-digit knots is an option.
