With an internal volume of 9,408 GT, Dragonfly currently ranks 17th in the YachtBuyer YB100 - YachtBuyer’s ranking of the largest yachts by gross tonnage - a metric that further affirms the scale and presence recognised by her recent win at the Yacht Style Awards.
Shaped for Performance and Presence
Her exterior, designed by German Frers, features a raked bow, curved deck balconies, and a steel-grey hull with a hint of military styling. The yacht spans five decks with a beam of 20m, incorporating extensive glazing, wood trim detailing, and shaded outdoor spaces including a main deck pool and beach club. Two helipads - one forward and one aft on the sundeck - support offshore operations and remote access.

The interiors, developed by Nauta Yachts, remain undisclosed, although the layout accommodates 24 guests across 12 suites, supported by a crew of up to 53.

Twin MAN 16V28/33D engines provide a top speed of 18 knots and a reported cruising speed of 24 knots. Lürssen has integrated a diesel-electric hybrid propulsion system designed in-house, aiming to improve operational efficiency and long-range performance. Stabiliser systems are fitted for both underway and at-anchor comfort.
From Concept to Completion
Initially known as Grande II / Project Ali Baba, the yacht began construction in April 2020 as a successor to the owner’s previous vessel, Pacific X.

The build included several logistical challenges, including a slipway issue resolved using a BHV pontoon and an early technical launch due to a gate malfunction.

Despite these setbacks, the project progressed on schedule. Her hull was fitted with a cathodic protection system to meet IWS classification from Lloyd’s Register, minimising long-term maintenance and reducing the need for dry docking. Sea trials were completed in the North Sea in late 2024, followed by a period of final preparation in Barcelona.

Dragonfly is also among the longest yachts in the world in the Top100, currently ranked 12th by length overall. Though not available for sale, her inclusion in the YB100 and recent award recognition underscore her significance within the global fleet. Whether as a private residence or long-range expedition platform, Dragonfly highlights the scale and technical ambition behind today’s large custom yachts.
