The 168'2" motor yacht Legend was delivered to her owners in 1987 by German shipyard Fr. Schweers Shipyard. Her interior design and exterior styling comes from the drawing boards of Terence Disdale, while Fr. Schweers Shipyard is responsible for her naval architecture.

Key Features

  • Traditional canoe-sterned hull form design
  • Sumptuous and opulent main saloon
  • Owner's suite with panoramic mural bathroom
  • Hydraulically-operated stern gangway

Design & Construction

Designed around a displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 29'10" beam and a 10'6" draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 603 GT (Gross Tonnes).

The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards.

Exterior Design

The exterior design of Legend is defined by its clipper bow, which offers both aesthetic appeal and functional performance. The yacht features a white hull and superstructure, creating a clean and unified look. The boot top and below the waterline areas are painted black, providing a sharp contrast to the white upper sections. The deck is constructed from teak, known for its durability and resistance to the elements. This choice of material ensures a long-lasting and practical surface for outdoor activities.

On the aft boat deck, the circular stairway made of varnished wood and stainless steel offers a practical yet visually appealing transition between levels. The overall exterior design focuses on functionality, ensuring that each element serves a specific purpose while maintaining a cohesive look.

Legends's deck areas are designed for both leisure and operational efficiency. The aft deck provides a comfortable space for relaxation and socializing, with easy access to the main saloon. The boat deck lounge, with its less formal atmosphere, offers shaded windows and a weathered oak appearance, enhancing the yacht's versatility.

Interior Design

Upon entering through the hydraulically-operated stern gangway, guests are greeted by varnished mahogany and mirrored paneling, a departure from the usual stark, white-painted after-bulkheads. The main saloon, spanning 12 meters, is divided into two distinct areas: an informal seating section aft, suitable for television viewing and casual entertainment, and a more formal sitting area forward.

The interior is predominantly paneled in pale limed oak, with ceilings made of lacquered, highly reflective panels that enhance the sense of space. The main saloon's informal seating area is notable for its deep-piled, hand-tufted carpet and centrally-placed circular carved rug. The formal sitting area is separated visually yet harmoniously connected by the same sand-colored carpet.

Beyond the saloon, the entrance lobby features textured and lacquered vertical wall panels with mirrored division strips. This lobby provides access to a store and toilet, and leads to a forward suite designed as a sitting-room but capable of sleeping two. Continuing through the yacht, guests will find a small limed-oak paneled lobby that opens into the dining room. The dining area features a honey-colored lacquered table on Roman column legs, surrounded by 14 rope-carved, limed oak chairs.

The boat deck lounge, accessed via a limed, ribbed oak paneled staircase with gold fittings, offers a less formal atmosphere. The oak paneling here is tinted grey, complementing the grey-tinted horizontal wooden louvres and teak stripe flooring. A central carpet in black, white, and yellow adds contrast. This space includes a glass-fronted bookcase that conceals the television and audio system, as well as a lacquered ivory-colored campaign desk for private office use.

Accommodation

Legend offers accommodation for up to 12 guests in 6 suites. The owner's suite is a notable highlight, occupying the full width of the yacht. This expansive area is adorned in shades of pale blue, pink, and pearl. The suite includes limed-oak paneling and gloss lacquered, columned display cabinets. Silk drapes frame the windows and bed, while bronze mirrored lattice panels conceal doors leading to dual dressing rooms. The bathroom features a rose aurora marble finish, with separate shower and lavatory, and is complemented by a jacuzzi surrounded by a bespoke panoramic mural.

The five guest cabins are located aft and can be accessed via a carpeted and paneled staircase from the main saloon. Each cabin offers en-suite bathrooms, with two forward cabins specifically designed for the owner's daughters, featuring walk-in wardrobes and custom murals.

She is also capable of carrying up to 14 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.
