Delivered in 2019, Kinship is a multi-award winning 49.9m motor yacht built by Italian shipyard Riva. Her interior design and exterior styling comes from the drawing boards of Officina Italiana Design, while Riva is responsible for her naval architecture.
Design & Construction
Designed around a displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 8.7m beam and a 2.65m draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 499 GT (Gross Tonnes).
This was the first yacht built on the 50Metri design. The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards. Launched in March 2019 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was delivered to her owners in June 2019.
Exterior Design
The yacht's silhouette is defined by three bold, straight lines that delineate each deck level, creating a visual simplicity that is both modern and timeless. These clean lines are complemented by her distinctive parallelogram windows and forward-sloping design elements that evoke a sense of forward movement even when she is at rest. This design language is a contemporary reinterpretation of the aesthetic principles seen in the classic 1964 Riva Caravelle series, honoring the vision of Carlo Riva, who understood the allure of sculptural beauty on water.
Race's hull color, a cool grey with a muted 20 percent gloss finish, is a deliberate choice that emphasizes her sleek profile while minimizing reflections. This thoughtful application serves not only to enhance the yacht's visual appeal but also to ensure a seamless integration with the maritime environment, allowing natural light to flood into the interiors without glare.
The attention to detail extends to the yacht's exterior paintwork, where the use of glass plays a crucial role. Large windows punctuate the hull and superstructure, providing panoramic views and a connection to the sea for those aboard. The emphasis on external living spaces is evident, with the forward deck lounge offering a prime location for enjoyment of the yacht's performance and the surrounding seascape.
Race's external features are purposefully brought into the interior, creating a harmonious balance between the inside and outside spaces. Classic Riva teak decking, reminiscent of the brand's storied runabouts, adorns the dayhead and the corridor leading to the bridge, further solidifying the yacht's identity within the Riva family.
The exterior design's culmination is the sun deck, shielded by a forward-raked carbon-fiber hardtop that stretches nearly the yacht's length, continuing the sporty lines that define Race. The choice of materials, like the mahogany bases and leather straps of the lounge chairs, underscores Riva's commitment to quality and heritage, ensuring that every detail echoes the brand's iconic status.
Interior Design
The collaboration between Officina Italiana Design and Riva's in-house team has resulted in a space that exudes sophistication and masculinity, featuring clean lines and a selective color palette that harmoniously integrates the yacht's external elegance with its internal grandeur.
The extensive use of rich mahogany throughout the yacht is a nod to Riva's iconic heritage, with a darker tone specifically chosen to mirror that of the Aquariva models. This wood is perfectly complemented by sleek stainless steel and luxurious leather, materials that are quintessential to the Riva brand. The choice of these materials creates a seamless experience, as familiar elements from the Riva family lineage are thoughtfully incorporated both inside and outside the yacht.
In the dining area, the soft grey carpet lays the foundation for an atmosphere of understated elegance, while a strategically placed pantry with a dumb waiter serves multiple decks, emphasizing functionality without compromising on style. The use of white statuario marble with subtle grey veining, alongside expansive glass features, such as the glass-framed main stairwell, further enhances the sense of light and space throughout the yacht.
The attention to detail is relentless and deliberate, with even the smallest features receiving consideration. Custom doorknobs, reminiscent of those on the Riva Dolcevita, are sculpted to fit the owner's hand perfectly, while the stainless-steel drains on the deck proudly bear the Riva logo.
Accommodation
Race can accommodate up to 12 guests in exceptional comfort and style. Below deck, guests will discover four beautifully appointed staterooms, comprising three double cabins and one twin cabin. Each of these cabins features a harmonious blend of leather and grey tones.
The master suite, a bespoke creation tailored to the owner's exacting standards, is strategically positioned on the main deck, offering enhanced privacy and spectacular views. This suite exemplifies the pinnacle of luxury with its vast space, refined materials, and state-of-the-art entertainment system.
An additional guest suite is ingeniously integrated into the media room, equipped with an ensuite facility. This flexible space can be transformed to accommodate additional guests if required, ensuring Race's versatility in hosting a range of guest configurations.
The design of the guest cabins continues the motif of slatted mahogany ceilings, an elegant solution that conceals air conditioning outputs while adding visual depth and texture. This detail, along with the uniform color palette and the use of natural light, creates a seamless and inviting environment, drawing guests into a world where every detail is considered and every comfort is provided.
The excellence of the onboard experience is also a result of the dedicated crew that brings it to life. Race offers generous accommodations for a crew of 9, ensuring their comfort and well-being, which in turn translates to the highest levels of service for guests onboard.
Performance & Capabilities
At the heart of Race's performance capabilities are her twin MTU 8V 4000 M63 diesel engines, each producing a remarkable 1,360 horsepower. These engines are designed to offer a harmonious blend of power and reliability, ensuring that Race can navigate with precision and grace. With this formidable propulsion system, Race achieves a top speed of 15 knots.
The innovative use of lightweight materials, such as the aviation industry's fiberglass and Nomex sandwich panels, not only contributes to Race's impressive speed but also enhances her fuel efficiency. At a cruising speed of 14 knots, Race boasts a fuel consumption of just 300 liters per hour, including the utilization of generators—a remarkable feat for a yacht of her class. This efficiency translates into a substantial cruising range of 3,500 nautical miles at a steady pace of 11 knots, allowing for extended voyages and exploration without frequent refueling stops.
To ensure that guests aboard Race enjoy the utmost comfort, the yacht is equipped with advanced stabilization systems, featuring both at-anchor and underway stabilizing systems to minimize roll and enhance onboard comfort, regardless of sea conditions. These systems are critical for providing a serene and stable environment, whether Race is cutting through waves or resting in a secluded bay.
Amenities
Ensuring everyone on board can enjoy the water to the fullest, luxury yacht Kinship offers a large beach club connected to a swim platform, with plenty of space for lounging and soaking up the sea views.
