Sustainable catamaran specialist SILENT Yachts has announced it has teamed up with VisionF Yachts to produce the 25m (82ft) SILENT VisionF 82 motor yacht.
The new hybrid yacht is being built by the Turkish yard VisionF, but will feature SILENT Technology onboard with solar paneling fitted on the extended hardtop of the flybridge and a powerful battery bank producing enough energy to power all household appliances on board.
The new partnership comes as SILENT Yachts announces is being restructured as SILENT Group and expanding its production capacity in three production sites in Italy, Turkey and Thailand. This follows a record-breaking year for the yard in 2021 with 21 yachts sold.
The SILENT VisionF 82 is the first yacht to come from a sub-division of the new group that will focus on working with yacht builders to produced hybrid yachts that make use of both conventional propulsion and renewable solar energy.
“I’m immensely proud of what SILENT-YACHTS has achieved over the years,” says SILENT-YACHTS founder and CEO Michael Köhler. “After beginning our research into solar yacht technologies in 2004, the company has evolved and expanded and last year’s sales show that we continue to grow. We are now a truly international Group with diverse interests requiring more extensive resources and production space. This enables us to collaborate with other shipyards such as VisionF to assist them in harnessing solar technology as a step towards a more sustainable future.”
Other departments of the newly restructured group will include SILENT Tenders, offering a range of electric tenders, SILENT Charter, offering SILENT Yachts for charter and SILENT Management, offering a wide range of management services for SILENT clients.
VisionF Yachts was founded in Istanbul in 2019 and launched its first boat, the VisionF 80 the following year. The new SILENT VisionF 82 will be built at its shipyard in Yalova in North-West Turkey, with the first two hulls already under construction.
SILENT Yachts has earned the nickname the ‘Tesla of the seas’ for its solar-powered, ocean-going catamarans. Indeed its SILENT 64, launched in 2016, was the first serial production solar-powered yacht in the world. The yard currently has 17 yachts in build, eight from its SILENT 60 series, six from its SILENT 80 series, the first SILENT 120 and the two SILENT Vision F 82 models.
