Williams Jet Tenders announces approval of HVO100 fuel

Williams Jet Tenders has announced the approval of HVO100 fuel (hydrotreated vegetable oil) following successful initial testing on specific DieselJet engines. This strategic move exemplifies Williams' dedication to environmental sustainability and pioneering innovation within the marine industry.

The approval extends to all Williams tenders powered by Yanmar 4JH engines, including the DieselJet 415, 445, and 505, and SOLAS 505. Owners of these engines are encouraged to opt for HVO100 fuel, a choice that not only reduces their carbon footprint but also ensures emissions reduction without compromising performance. In light of this development, all upcoming product launches and testing endeavors utilizing these diesel engines will exclusively employ HVO100.

The use of UCO HVO, a renewable fuel derived from waste cooking oil, accelerates our decarbonization efforts. As we advocate for HVO use in our fleet and approved test boats, we aim to raise awareness about the advantages of transitioning to alternative fuels. The ongoing exploratory testing will expand HVO usage across more of our tenders, contributing significantly to reducing our carbon footprint as more engines receive approval."

The environmental benefits of UCO HVO fuels are noteworthy, encompassing reduced greenhouse gas emissions and reliance on renewable sources, derived from waste cooking oil. UCO HVO also yields fewer particulates, sulfur, and nitrogen oxides compared to traditional diesel, thus curbing air pollution. Additionally, the use of UCO HVO fuels promotes responsible disposal of waste cooking oils, making a substantial contribution to fostering a cleaner, greener, and sustainable environment.

This announcement is a pivotal part of Williams' broader sustainability commitment, featuring initiatives such as being awarded a grant by Innovate UK EDGE to test more sustainable composite materials and conducting Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) for selected models. The company, which hired a full-time sustainability specialist in 2023, continues to follow its sustainability strategy initiated in 2020, with additional updates scheduled for release in 2024.

By integrating YANMAR’S HVO-approved engines across the Williams Tenders’ range of boats and vehicles, we are not just propelling innovation; we are supporting our customers in propelling a sustainable journey towards a cleaner future. Together, we help our customers navigate the steps towards optimizing cutting-edge technology with environmental consciousness.”
