Design & Build

The 60 Fly boasts a sleek and cohesive design that rivals European builders, showcasing Cruisers' ability to blend style with functionality. Similar to its European counterparts, Cruisers utilizes the design and layout of this 18-meter yacht to create a sister ship, the 60 Cantius, which features a sporty profile. Both yachts offer a galley aft salon, a choice of two or three cabins, and are powered by 725hp Volvo Penta IPS950 pod drive engines, ensuring impressive performance on the water.

The 60 Fly distinguishes itself from most other flybridge yachts with its innovative upper deck design. Departing from convention, it opts for a center console boat layout instead of the typical seating arrangement, and the result is impressive.

Designed for serious cruising, this 60-foot flybridge yacht embodies functionality and comfort throughout, evident in every detail onboard. Unlike many yachts in its class, the absence of a crew cabin signals its suitability for self-piloting on extended journeys. The IPS pod drive system takes on added significance here, offering intuitive joystick control that simplifies maneuvering in tight quarters, enhancing the overall cruising experience.

Interior Accommodation

Upon stepping into the salon, the serious cruising focus of the 60 Fly becomes immediately apparent. The galley aft design spans the width of the boat, offering ample storage space, refrigeration, and generous worktops, with the added convenience of a dishwasher. While the galley would benefit from the addition of fiddles to its countertops, it remains impressively functional. Although the design may not be as open to the cockpit as some, an electric galley window creates a connection, transforming the space into an adjoining bar area for enhanced socializing and entertaining.

In the lounge, the staggered lounge seating and pop-up TV offer comfort and entertainment, but it's the sweeping arcs of glass that truly steal the show, providing breathtaking views of the surroundings. The lower helm station contributes to the social atmosphere of the salon, with smart pilot-style seats that can swivel to join the conversation, complete with comfortable armrests.

Descending below decks, the focus on practicality is evident in the lobby area, which features clever cabinetry housing a washing machine and a must-have for long-distance cruising, a wine cooler. The lobby also introduces a unique third cabin layout. While some might expect twin berths at this length, the inclusion of bunks is compensated by a massive sliding door that creates a more open feel. This versatile space can serve as an additional sleeping area or be transformed into a cozy lounge for family gatherings or occasional guests.

Both the forward VIP and amidships owner's stateroom on the 60 Fly are generously sized and boast Cruisers' trademark large ensuites, ensuring luxurious comfort for all aboard. The owner's stateroom receives an added touch of sophistication, featuring stitched leather doors on its spacious wardrobes, textured surfaces, a cozy lounge area, and expansive hull windows that flood the space with natural light.

The attention to detail and high-end finishes extend throughout the interior and are mirrored in the Cantius sports yacht model, with the addition of a sunroof in the Cantius salon for an open-air experience. This thoughtful replication ensures that the signature style and elegance of the 60 Fly are carried through to its sister ship, offering a consistent and exceptional cruising experience across both models.

Helm Station

In driving mode, the lower helm of the 60 Fly showcases a sleek dash design equipped with twin multifunction displays (MFDs) and ergonomic, shipshape seats that ensure comfort and ease of operation. While the absence of a side deck door may be considered a significant omission for an owner-operated yacht, the strategically positioned seats facilitate easy ingress and egress from the helm, enhancing overall maneuverability and convenience.

While the lower helm of the 60 Fly adheres to a fairly conventional layout, the upper helm presents a unique and exciting experience. A sporty central console and seat take center stage, flanked by chaise longue-style seats, fostering a social and enjoyable atmosphere at the helm. The narrow design of the console prioritizes efficiency, providing space for a single multifunction display (MFD) while maintaining a sleek and stylish aesthetic.

Deck Lifestyle

The flybridge of the 60 Fly breaks away from convention, embracing a fun and sporty seating layout that adds excitement to the outdoor experience. At the forefront of the deck, the focus is on the driving experience, featuring forward-facing seating for the skipper and up to six guests. A thrilling forward seat offers an exhilarating vantage point, allowing passengers to peer over the windscreen and immerse themselves in the journey ahead.

Positioned behind the helm, two wetbar pods offer versatility with options for a refrigerator, grill, and icemaker, catering to various entertaining needs. The seating arrangement aft adopts a more conventional approach, featuring a U-shaped seating area and table, providing a comfortable space for relaxation and socializing.

While the layout may accentuate its narrowness compared to other 60-footers, the flybridge impresses with its ample seating capacity, ensuring plenty of room for guests to enjoy the outdoor experience. Additionally, the deck can be covered by a hardtop with a large sunroof, offering protection from the elements while allowing for an open-air ambiance when desired.

On the main deck, the cockpit of the 60 Fly offers a more social atmosphere with the addition of bar stools, complementing the usual bench seating across the stern. The side decks are thoughtfully designed with safety and functionality in mind, featuring deep and secure pathways, along with super-useful bulwark gates on each side for easy access alongside the dock.

Moving forward, a raised section of the coachroof enhances headroom below the deck while creating a comfortable seating area on deck. Neat little bar tables are cleverly integrated into the forward molding, adding to the overall convenience and aesthetic appeal.

At the stern, a spacious swim platform provides ample room for a tender, with a transom door opening up to reveal a generously sized storage garage, offering practical storage solutions for water toys and equipment.

Our Verdict

As a flagship model, the 60 Fly exemplifies sophistication and intelligence, showcasing a remarkable attention to detail and design both inside and out. While it may not boast the largest dimensions in its class, it more than compensates with its admirable ambition to innovate and set its own standards. Each unique feature of the yacht reflects a commitment to excellence and a determination to stand out from the crowd, making it a truly exceptional choice for those who appreciate distinctive luxury and style on the water.

Rivals to Consider

The 60ft flybridge market is full of big hitters, maxing on interior space. All of the 60 Flys rivals offer three good cabins including a twin berth third cabin and crew cabin, most have a large galley aft salon. None have the same exciting flybridge design as the Cruisers but there are some seriously luxurious and spacious decks out there to enjoy.

Most of the competition is European but the Hatteras M60 delivers a good hit of traditional US flybridge design with its optional lower helm and massive salon, it's 5.5m beam creating a spacious three-cabin interior. The Turkish-built Numarine 62 has a similar feel to the Cruisers onboard and also runs on IPS950 drives but comes with a mid-galley design, three cabins and a big twin crew cabin aft.

Princess has two competing models, the smaller F55 (17.6m) and larger (19.3m) F62, both offer big flybridge decks and three excellent cabins. The F55's 4.9m beam matches the 60 Fly and delivers an interior that doesn't feel any smaller, despite the shorter LOA. Both Princess models are shaft drive.

The Prestige 590 is very close to the Cruisers on overall dimensions, with a similar galley aft layout. Three good cabins include a privately accessed Owner's stateroom. There is also the option of a tender garage.

Italian builder Absolute is usually in the mix and this IPS-powered 62 offers a massive three-cabin, galley-aft interior with two huge suites forward and amidships.  And finally, if cabins numbers matter to you, or interior spaced in general, the award-winning Pearl 62 is well worth your time. This four-cabin yacht includes a privately accessed Owner's suite, a huge salon and one of the biggest and best flybridges on the market under 70ft.
