Sasga Yachts History & Heritage
In 1978, Juan Sastre laid the foundation for Sasga Yachts by establishing "Astilleros Menorca," driven by a vision to craft yachts inspired by the classic Mediterranean fishing boat, the llaüt. The inaugural vessels, named 'Conquistador,' were modest 8m (26ft) creations.
Over time, the yard expanded its horizons. In 1985, it ventured into a 10m (33ft) llaüt, and by 1997, the Menoquin Yacht at 13m (43ft) marked a significant milestone. Despite its modest size, the calculated risk paid off, drawing international acclaim.
In 2001, Juan Sastre handed over the reins to Jose Luis Sastre, sparking an era of growth with yachts ranging from 16m to 18m (53ft to 59ft) in length. The official establishment of Sasga Yachts occurred in 2010, with the construction of the Menorquin 42.
Subsequent years witnessed further expansion, reaching the United States with a line of fiberglass boats under the Minorca Yachts brand. The journey reflects Sasga Yachts' commitment to innovation and international recognition.
