The 38 Sundancer was built in the United States by Sea Ray making full use of their in-house design team's expertise. The 11.89m/39' sportsboat constructed in GRP can sleep up to five guests in two cabins. She was available with only one option for inboard engines.

Production of the first generation Sea Ray 380 Sundancer started in 1999 and ran for over 5 years. The second and final generation Sea Ray 38 Sundancer went into production in 2006.
