Design & Construction
Designed around a planing GRP hull and superstructure she features a 24'3" beam and a 5'11" draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 185 GT (Gross Tonnes).
This was the first yacht built on the Viking 93MY design. Launched in June 2017 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was delivered to her owners in August 2017.
Exterior Design
Obsession presents a striking profile on the water, characterized by its bold, clean lines and functional elegance. The yacht's exterior is designed with a fold-out terrace that adds to its dynamic profile, offering an extension of the yacht's living space and providing guests with an intimate connection to the sea. The terrace is complemented by teak detailing that is visible from the opposite side, underscoring the yacht's cohesive design language.
At the stern, Obsession features a hydraulic swim platform, engineered for ease of access to the water and convenient tender or jet ski storage. The garage, integrated into the transom, is designed with a practical door system that opens to reveal ample space for water toys and also provides an entryway to the engine room.
Ascending the stairs from the swim platform, guests arrive at the aft deck, which is appointed with high-gloss tables that can be adjusted to create a singular, expansive dining area for alfresco meals. The aft deck also hosts a well-equipped bar with plush stools and catering amenities, including an ice maker, refrigerator, and sink, all designed to facilitate on-deck entertainment.
The yacht's boarding gates on each side ensure accessibility is straightforward, regardless of how Obsession is moored. The stairs from the aft deck lead up to the flybridge, enhancing the yacht's vertical space and offering additional vantage points from which to enjoy the surroundings.
Moving forward, Obsession's foredeck is furnished with a sun pad area, providing an ideal spot for relaxation and sunbathing. Storage compartments for fenders and cleaning supplies are discreetly integrated into the design, maintaining the deck's uncluttered appearance.
Interior Design
The main salon features a mix of wall paneling and flooring in different wood varieties, with tailored carpets in specific areas for added comfort and aesthetic appeal. Attention to detail is evident in the grain matching of the woodwork, ensuring continuity and flow throughout the space.
A concealed television unit rises seamlessly from the cabinetry, further enhancing the salon's utility without disrupting its clean lines. The inclusion of a wine fridge adds a touch of convenience for entertaining guests. Moving forward, the formal dining area presents a setting conducive to intimate dinners or larger gatherings, complemented by a side access door that opens to reveal a fold-out terrace, effectively expanding the available space and connection with the outdoors.
The helm station boasts a modern suite of electronics and provides a clear, commanding view of the surroundings. With a Seakeeper stabilization system in place, the controls are intuitive and within easy reach, ensuring a smooth and controlled navigation experience. The skylight overhead in the helm area offers natural illumination, with the option to shade the interior if needed.
In the galley, modernity and functionality converge. The space is equipped with high-end Miele appliances and features a contrasting dual-tone stone countertop. A full-size refrigerator and freezer cater to extended voyages, while the expansive window curves with the yacht's contour, offering views of the water and ample natural light. A side access door permits easy movement between the galley and the exterior decks.
The dining areas aboard Obsession are designed for versatility. The aft deck presents twin high-gloss tables that can be joined for larger dining arrangements, alongside a bar area with plush stools and catering facilities including an ice maker, refrigerator, and sink. Inside, the formal dining space is situated conveniently adjacent to the galley, allowing for seamless service and interaction between guests and crew.
Throughout Obsession, lighting has been thoughtfully integrated to complement the yacht's interior design. Ambient and task lighting are placed strategically to enhance the atmosphere and functionality of each space. On the flybridge, an enclosed area doubles as a sky lounge, featuring a bar, comfortable seating, and a television unit that mirrors the craftsmanship found in the main salon. Windows can be opened to merge indoor and outdoor environments, further emphasizing the yacht's adaptability to different entertaining scenarios.
Accommodation
Obsession offers a discerning blend of style and accommodation for up to ten guests across five cabins. The interior arrangement is designed to provide a comfortable and intimate experience for all on board.
The owner's suite boasts a full beam layout that includes a king-sized bed, dressing table, and a generous ensuite bathroom with a modern stone finish, double vanity, and walk-in shower. This private sanctuary is exclusively accessed via a separate staircase, ensuring seclusion and privacy.
Guest accommodation includes four additional cabins, each thoughtfully appointed and finished to high standards akin to the owner's suite. Two of the cabins feature single beds with ample standing room and storage, including closets that light up automatically. Ensuites accompany each cabin, some of which are shared, featuring mirrored ceilings that amplify the sense of space.
For the crew of three, Obsession includes a bunk room, a shared bathroom finished with quality materials, and a mess area equipped with essential amenities such as a microwave and refrigeration. The captain's cabin ensures additional privacy and convenience, rounding out the well-considered crew accommodations.
Performance & Capabilities
Equipped with twin MTU 12V 2000 M96L engines, each delivering 1,945 horsepower, this yacht is capable of a top speed of approximately 23 knots and can comfortably cruise at 19 knots.
Obsession is designed to deliver a stable and smooth experience on the water, thanks in part to the inclusion of a Seakeeper stabilization system. This technology minimizes roll motion, enhancing comfort for guests and crew alike. The benefits of such a system are particularly evident when the yacht is at rest, making the onboard experience more pleasant in various sea conditions.
Her planing hull design means she is fast and efficient as she slices through the water.
Amenities
The yacht can house plenty of nautical toys and accessories, with a well-appointed tender garage for storing her impressive locker. Air conditioning offers increased on-board comfort. Obsession also features an inviting spread of sunpads.
