sportsboat FAQ

We're committed to making yacht buying easier, so if you can't find what you're looking for just ask.

  • Yes it is. You need a cabin, of course, and on smaller models this might be akin to camping, with little more than a bed. Larger, 8m plus, models can have proper cabins, with a small galleys and toilet compartment. While above 10m, of which there are many options, you will find full-height interiors, separate cabins, and good galley and toilet compartments.

As you go increase in size the difference in seakeepoinhg and on-water comfort is noticeable. Even moving from 7m to 8m will deliver a far more assured ride.

  • If on private land, for instance a boat yard, there are no restrictions other than common sense. On public highways, different nations or states will have their own laws, and they are proper enforceable laws.

These towing laws are set around the total weight of the rig - vehicle, trailer, and boat - and the overall length and width of the boat and trailer. It is your responsibility to make sure you are aware of and conform to these laws.

  • The classic idea of a sportsboat is a relatively small, affordable and fun craft, intended for short blasts and sunny days. But as time has passed and design has evolved, we have seen ever larger sportsboats, some capable of running great distances at high speed and merging into sports yacht territory.

  • Very little, one can be the other, although powerboats tend towards the larger and more powerful end of the market.
