Design & Construction

Designed around a displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 8.25m beam and a 2.25m draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 299 GT (Gross Tonnes).

Construction started in late 2018. Launched in June 2020 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was delivered to her owners in August 2020.

Exterior Design

Alix captivates observers with her distinct exterior design, characterized by a robust and refined military-style elegance that is a testament to the meticulous craftsmanship of C.P.N Srl and the creative vision of A. Vallicelli & C Yacht Design. Her profile is assertively modern, marked by great symmetry and a purposeful straight bow, which not only enhances her visual appeal but also contributes to her exceptional seaworthiness.

The yacht's styling, which designer Alessandro Nazareth describes as having a "military feeling," is balanced by its low profile and sleek lines, a direct result of the owner's preference to forgo a traditional sun deck. This choice not only preserves the yacht's streamlined silhouette but also provides an added sense of intimacy and privacy for those aboard.

Alix's utilitarian design extends to the main deck where a large tender, essential for the owners' diving expeditions, is accommodated. A robust HS Marine crane stands ready for deployment, further emphasizing the yacht's explorer credentials. The side deck is wide and well-protected, leading to a foredeck lounge with seating and convertible tables, offering a perfect blend of functionality and relaxation.

A focus on simplicity and efficiency is evident throughout Alix's exterior design. Interior Design

The heart of the yacht, the galley, speaks volumes about the Italian heritage of the owners, for whom the culinary experience is essential. Adjacent to the galley, the crew mess has been given considerable thought, providing a hospitable and comfortable area for the crew, who may spend extended periods at sea.

Throughout the vessel, dark veneers and gleaming white lacquers are the dominant themes, punctuated by strategic pops of color. This creates a minimalist yet inviting ambiance that doesn't compromise on warmth. The use of ebony macassar wood furnishing adds a masculine yet soft texture to the spaces, balancing the strong character of the wood with the overall gentle feel of the yacht's interior.

The flooring, crafted from oak with a distinctive finish, bestows a sense of coziness underfoot, contributing to the overall warmth of the interior. High-gloss lacquered white surfaces reflect light and enhance the sense of openness, while the dark wood provides a grounding contrast, ensuring the visual experience onboard is both dynamic and harmonious.

Artwork onboard is selectively placed, with a few carefully chosen pieces that resonate with the owners' personal style, achieving a fine balance of color and form. These artistic elements not only add visual interest but also reflect the owners' penchant for elegance and their appreciation for the finer details.

The interior's soundproofing measures are meticulous, employing a variety of techniques to minimize noise and vibrations. These include underwater exhaust systems, precisely sized air conditioning ducts, silencers for engine room fans, elastic mounts for the engines, and the use of mineral wool as a damping material. Such attention to detail ensures that the tranquility of the interior is preserved, allowing guests to enjoy the peaceful ambiance characteristic of a sailing yacht even while cruising at 10 to 12 knots.

Accommodation

Alix offers sumptuous living spaces for guests, encapsulated in a layout that prioritizes privacy, comfort, and the seamless enjoyment of the sea. The yacht is well-appointed with five comfortable guest cabins, thoughtfully designed to cater to the needs of discerning travelers. The cabins are a perfect blend of modern luxury and practical design, ensuring a serene retreat for guests after a day of exploration or leisure.

The centerpiece of Alix's guest accommodations is the owner's cabin, strategically positioned on the bridge deck for an exclusive experience. This cabin is not only a living space but a private sanctuary that features its own terrace, allowing guests to bask in the tranquility of their surroundings. The terrace is a haven for relaxation, equipped with lounging and dining areas that are well-sheltered by an awning, enabling an intimate connection with the ocean vistas at any time of day. The owner's cabin is a modestly sized yet supremely private area, offering panoramic views and an opportunity for guests to witness the beauty of sunrise and sunset in seclusion.

On the main deck, Alix boasts a large VIP cabin that offers a generous space for guests, complete with all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay. This cabin, much like the rest of the yacht, reflects the owner's philosophy of simplicity and elegance. Below deck, three additional guest cabins are designed to provide a luxurious and restful environment, ensuring that every guest aboard Alix feels valued and pampered.

Furthermore, the yacht's design thoughtfully accommodates a crew of up to five, recognizing that their comfort is essential to the smooth operation of any luxury voyage. The crew quarters are cleverly positioned at the hull's center point, serving as a buffer between the engine room and guest areas. This strategic placement not only optimizes the crew's living conditions but also allows for efficient access to the engine room, enabling them to maintain the yacht's operational standards without intruding on the privacy of guests.

Performance & Capabilities

At the heart of Alix's mechanical prowess are twin diesel MAN (D2868 LE425) 715hp engines, renowned for their robustness and efficiency. These engines were chosen after an extensive evaluation of multiple options, reflecting the owner's deep involvement in the yacht's mechanical aspects. The engine specification was a critical decision, aimed at finding the perfect balance between performance and reliability for long-range voyages. With her 47,500-litre fuel tanks, she has a maximum range of 6,000 nautical miles at an economic speed of 10 knots.

The impressive fuel efficiency of Alix is noteworthy; the yacht achieves a remarkable consumption rate of 75 to 90 liters per hour while cruising at a consistent speed of 10 to 11 knots. This exceptional fuel economy is a result of meticulous design and testing, including the optimization of hull lines and the addition of a bulbous bow. The collaboration with the Marin Institute in The Netherlands played a pivotal role in refining these characteristics to minimize resistance and maximize performance.

Alix's capability to maintain comfort and stability during her voyages is further enhanced by CMC's electric fin stabilizers.
