Design & Construction
Designed around a displacement steel hull and a steel / teak superstructure she features a 17'5" beam and a 7'7" draft. The yacht has an internal volume of 86 GT (Gross Tonnes).
She was delivered to her owners in January 1935.
Exterior Design
The exterior design of Lady Hertha features a white hull that stands out against the maroon color below the waterline. The superstructure is also white, which provides a clean and cohesive look. The boot top stripe is painted maroon, adding a subtle yet distinct accent to the overall design. The deck is constructed from high-quality teak, known for its durability and resistance to weathering. This choice of material not only ensures longevity but also provides a practical, non-slip surface for safety.
The exterior features varnished handrails, wooden paneling, and classic brass fittings that have been ion-bonded for durability and shine, including signature blocks and tackle with gold braid.
With a nearly vertical bow and a cream-colored hull adorned with portholes for natural light, the yacht is accented by a deep red bootstrap along the waterline. Its high, rounded stern provides access to the water via a traditional diving board. The main deck aft area offers shaded dining space under the upper deck overhang, providing comfort for guests.
The upper deck aft is a prominent area for guests, featuring a seating area with a converted rowing boat and classic steamer-style sun loungers for the exposed deck area, and sofas and dining options under a fixed bimini shade aft of the funnel. Forward on this deck, guests can enjoy elevated views over historical features like funnels, wooden access hatches, a teak deck, and high vertical railings on the foredeck.
Interior Design
The interiors of Lady Hertha retain a classic charm with soft furnishings atop highly varnished wooden floors and wood paneling throughout. Brass accents evoke a bygone era, complemented by rounded windows that enhance the steamer ship vibe and flood the interior with natural light. Ceilings feature gentle arches with white wood panels and protruding wooden beams.
A large dining table for six guests, accompanied by bench seating in deep burgundy leather and classic mahogany chairs, divides the salon and dining area. The cabins blend quaint styling with modern comforts, featuring cream wood paneling and traditional wood floors. Classic round brass portholes open to allow fresh air into the cabins, while maintaining original features that add character to the interior spaces.
Accommodation
Lady Hertha accommodates up to six guests across three staterooms on the lower deck, featuring a luxurious wooden-clad master suite, a VIP stateroom, and a twin stateroom. The classic yacht can accommodate a crew of four to provide full guest service.
