Design & Construction

Designed around a planing GRP hull and superstructure she features a 6.71m beam. The yacht has an internal volume of 85 GT (Gross Tonnes).

This was the first yacht built on the Zeelander 8 design. Launched in October 2024 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was completed at Zeelander's Groot-Ammers Shipyard yard in Netherlands where she was commissioned and delivered to her owners.

Exterior Design

Silver Dawn presents a striking exterior that merges classic influences with contemporary design. Drawing inspiration from New England's lobster boats and New York commuter yachts from the 1930s, the yacht features a classic sheer line and a curved tumblehome stern. The sleek, sporty exterior is crafted from composite materials, a hallmark of modern yacht construction.

The yacht's flared bow and substantial freeboard contribute to its classic appearance and performance capabilities. The design incorporates practical elements such as a bathing platform that extends the living space by 12 square meters. This platform includes features like pop-up headrests and cushions for sunbathing, and a side-mounted ladder for easy water access. Additionally, the transom's smart design allows for convenient entry and exit via a passerelle that slides out at the push of a button.

Side access is facilitated by boarding gates on both sides, catering to various docking situations. The tender garage, positioned behind a bulkhead with a side-loading door, preserves the yacht's sleek profile while providing storage for the tender.

Silver Dawn's exterior is accented by stainless steel details and the signature 'Z' for Zeelander motifs. The cockpit area is designed for versatility, with customizable seating arrangements and an adjustable table to suit dining or lounging needs. The space is protected by a canopy extending from the overhang, ensuring comfort regardless of weather conditions.

The side decks provide secure passage to the foredeck, thanks to low bulwarks and sturdy rails. The foredeck itself offers a blend of seating and a sun pad for relaxation, with provisions for shade if desired. Practical storage solutions are integrated throughout, including deep compartments for fenders and equipment.

Interior Design

The saloon is welcoming, featuring a curved glass window that connects the interior to the outside bar. The space is equipped with entertainment options, including a retractable TV for the seating area and another TV that lowers to face the bar stools outside.

The galley is designed for efficiency and cleanliness, with a long countertop on one side of the saloon. Elements such as power sockets, the sink, and the bin are discreetly hidden, contributing to a tidy appearance. The galley includes a dishwasher and fridge, supplemented by a wine fridge and additional cooling in the bar and crew quarters. 

The helm station is centrally positioned, offering excellent visibility. It is equipped with a fully adjustable Stidd seat for comfort and ease of access to controls. The helm is fitted with triple 19-inch Garmin MFDs for navigation and engine data. The layout groups lighting controls for convenience.

Accommodation

Silver Dawn offers accommodation for up to 6 guests in 3 suites comprising 3 double cabins.

The owner's cabin is a standout feature, using the yacht's 6.7m (22ft) beam to offer an expansive and comfortable space. This full-beam suite incorporates an integrated bathroom with a unique cable door system, for easy transition between open and private settings and allowing extra light in. The bathroom features a rain shower, separate toilet, and ample storage options, and big hull windows. The cabin is completed with a king-size bed, overhead TV, and a multi-functional bureau.

Guest accommodations are equally refined, with two cabins providing inviting spaces. The port-side cabin features a queen-sized double bed and generous hull windows. There's also a large hanging locker and a private bathroom. The starboard cabin, slightly larger, provides an even more spacious bathroom and ample storage.

Crew accommodations are practical and well-designed, with two cabins accommodating up to three. One cabin provides two bunks and private bathroom, while the other has a single berth and storage. The crew quarters also include a mess area with a TV.

Performance & Capabilities

The Silver Dawn yacht is propelled by four Volvo IPS engines, each delivering 900hp, for a combined total of 3,600hp. This setup ensures that Silver Dawn can smoothly transition onto the plane and achieve a cruising speed of 25 knots with ease.

The yacht's advanced Interceptor system is designed to manage bow rise and maintain a level running attitude, enhancing stability and comfort while underway. This system operates seamlessly, allowing for efficient handling even when using the yacht’s full power potential. Despite its robust power, the noise levels are maintained at 65 decibels when cruising, aligning with Zeelander's focus on quiet operation.

Silver Dawn offers a substantial fuel capacity of 8,000 liters, which translates to a remarkable range. At a cruising speed of 26 knots, the yacht can cover over 500 nautical miles. Reducing the speed to 7 knots significantly extends the range to more than 3,000 nautical miles, making long-distance voyages feasible.

For enhanced stability, Silver Dawn is equipped with two Seakeeper gyrostabilizers. These stabilizers are crucial in minimizing roll and providing a smooth ride, ensuring passenger comfort in various sea conditions. The yacht's handling is further simplified with the inclusion of a Dynamic Positioning System (DPS), which allows the vessel to maintain its position without anchoring. This system is particularly useful for operations in crowded or shallow waters.
