Design & Construction
Designed around a semi-displacement wood hull and a GRP superstructure she features a 24'6" beam and a 6'6" draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 160 GT (Gross Tonnes).
Exterior Design
The exterior design of the yacht Aquila focuses on both sportfishing and long-range cruising. The aft California deck features a raised U-shaped settee and granite table, comfortably accommodating up to 10 guests. This area is equipped with a day head to starboard, a built-in refrigerator, and a stainless steel sink with disposal. Port and starboard live wells with viewing windows and a comprehensive tackle center with numerous drawers enhance the fishing capabilities of this vessel.
The teak deck extends to the spacious cockpit, which is designed with an open transom for easy access to the water and fishing activities. A tackle station includes dual 300-gallon baitwells, 12 tackle drawers, and 21 rocket launchers. The cockpit also features a built-in electric BBQ with lights, electric warping winches, and recessed rod holders. The lazarette offers ample storage space and includes gas tanks and a Bauer dive compressor.
The pilothouse is equipped with a U-shaped settee and teak table, offering comfortable seating for six. The boat deck houses a 17-foot tender on chocks with slide-out rod storage drawers and a lockable cabinet for reels. A #2000 hydraulic davit is available for launching the tender.
Interior Design
The main salon features large windows that allow for ample natural light and excellent views. Maple joinery and carpeting complement a large L-shaped upholstered sofa and two swivel chairs. A glass coffee table and two leather ottomans complete the seating area. The wet bar is equipped with a stainless steel sink, wine and liquor storage, an ice maker, and a refrigerator. Three rattan chairs provide additional seating at the bar.
The dining area features a large teak circular table with a lazy Susan, accommodating up to ten guests with a crescent-shaped settee and two rattan chairs. A mirror with dimmable lighting is positioned overhead, adding to the ambiance.
The galley, positioned forward of the dining area to port, is spacious and well-organized. It includes a large window and a side deck door, enhancing accessibility and light. The galley is equipped with essential appliances, ensuring all culinary needs are met efficiently.
The helm area, or pilothouse, is expansive and designed for functionality. It includes a U-shaped settee with a teak table, providing seating for six. Two Stidd leather helm seats offer comfort for navigation. The area features side doors leading to the Portuguese bridge, an overhead hatch with a sunshade, and a stand-up desk with drawers. The passageway aft includes a wet bar with a sink, refrigerator, and ice maker, along with stairs to the upper deck. Doors at the rear of the pilothouse lead to the boat deck, offering easy access to various areas of the yacht.
Accommodation
The yacht Aquila provides accommodations in four well-appointed staterooms. These include two lower-deck VIP staterooms with island queen beds and a midship guest cabin featuring a double berth. Each stateroom is equipped with ensuite facilities that include a shower, vanity, and toilet, ensuring guests have private and convenient spaces to refresh.
The owner's stateroom, situated on the main deck, offers an expansive retreat with built-in side tables, a desk, and a chair. This cabin boasts a full-size tub and shower, a vanity, and elegant marble finishes in its ensuite head. Cedar-lined hanging lockers and numerous drawers provide ample storage, enhancing the comfort of long stays.
Crew accommodations are equally considered for up to five members, with four cabins spread across the lower and bridge decks. The captain's cabin on the lower deck has a double berth and ensuite facilities, while additional crew cabins offer single berths and shared amenities.
Performance & Capabilities
Powered by twin diesel Detroit Diesel (16V 92TIB) 1,100hp engines, motor yacht Aquila is capable of reaching a top speed of 17 knots, and comfortably cruises at 10 knots. With her 6,200 gallon fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 3,000 nautical miles at 10 knots. Her semi-displacement hull design means she offers a great balance of space and speed.
