Van der Valk announces fully custom 34m yacht 'Blue Jeans'

The shipyard is building the yacht for an Asian owner and it is expected to be delivered in summer 2022.

Dutch shipyard Van Der Valk has announced it has begun construction on the 34m (111.5ft) motor yacht ‘Blue Jeans’.

The sleekly styled yacht is a departure from the norm in comparison to other yachts for sale in its size range being entirely custom-designed and custom-built, whereas similar yachts tend to be semi-custom models.

The team at Van der Valk, along with designer Guido de Groot, have worked closely with the Owner to create a range of bespoke features including high ceilings, dive-board balconies in the main deck lounge, glass bulwarks for enhanced views and more. The Owner is from Asia and represents the first customer from this region for the yard.

With a focus on entertaining and socializing the raised bow extends upwards so the anchors can be hidden in the forepeak and space created for a chill-out zone.

Other features include a large garage for a Carbon Craft CC130 turbojet tender, launched via a hydraulic swim platform and a main deck lounge with a close connection to outdoor spaces thanks to large aft doors and balconies to both port and starboard.

A marker of the innovative design is the capstan table found in the dining area forward. The table is capable of enlarging its diameter and doubling its seating capacity whilst remaining totally circular.

Established in the 1960s, Van der Valk is the only Dutch yard in the 18m (59ft) to 45m (147ft) range to build aluminum hulls in-house and take care of all outfitting and finishing. In the past ten years its builds have ranged from the 24.3m (79.7ft) AFINA to the 36.8m (120.7ft) 'Santa Maria T', with an average length of 26.5m (87ft) from its 16 deliveries in that time. YachtBuyer intelligence reveals they will be adding another six yachts to its fleet over the next 24 months.
