Vripack and RMK Marine collaborate again on 37m ‘pocket-sized explorer’ Seven Seas

The RMK 120 model ‘Seven Seas’ is the sixth collaboration between Vripack and RMK Marine and features a 55 square-meter (592 sq. ft) dedicated tender deck.

Dutch firm design firm Vripack and Turkish shipyard RMK Marine have revealed they are collaborating once again on the ‘pocket-sized explorer’ RMK 120 model, ‘Seven Seas’.

The 37m (121ft) steel-hulled yacht is the sixth collaboration between the two companies, and has been designed for an experienced yachtsman with world cruising in mind.

The purposeful design came from the Owner's brief to “capture expedition capability in a masculine trawler-style yacht refined by a feminine, family-focused design”.

Bart M. Bouwhuis, Vripack Co-Creative Director, explains more about the Owners desires for the boat: “The owners wanted their next boat to be big, but not so big that it couldn’t access beautiful ports and bays” he says. “They were keen to design a pocket explorer. For them, that meant everything that you typically have in a 50m (164ft) 500 GT boat, including proper tender carrying capacity when cruising in different regions.”

As a result Seven Seas features a 55 square-meter (592 sq. ft) dedicated tender deck, which has the capacity to carry two 7.5m (24.6ft) tenders. A large lazarette provides further storage for water toys and RIBs. Aft of the bridge a large exterior deck has an overhang to provide shelter in harsh conditions.

Superyacht-style luxuries are evident on the private top deck with Jacuzzi, bar and a seating area with far-reaching views, whilst the main deck has plenty of space for al fresco dining. The design is also marked by high windows to allow plenty of light into the interior.

Dutch design studio Vripack began life developing small dayboats back in 1961, but is now involved in many sizable projects. At the end of 2020 it was revealed to be working with Royal Huisman on 52m (171ft) Project 406, which will become the world’s largest sportsfisher upon her delivery in 2023.

Among RMK Marine’s many projects are 52m (170.6ft) 'Nazenin V', 45m (147ft) KARIA and 30.7m (100ft) SARAFIN, all of which have been recognised at the prestigious World Superyacht Awards.

Previous collaborations between Vripack and RMK Marine have included 38.7m (127ft) RH3, 36.8m (120.7ft) JASMINE and 37.7m (123.6ft) Trawler Yacht ‘Caressa K’.
