On Deck

The yacht is the smallest in a range that goes up to 50 feet. Nick finds it intriguing due to its unique feature of having no side decks, intended to maximize the cockpit space. He notes that the cockpit's volume is comparable to the older 40-footer version, making it a spacious area for a 32-foot boat. Nick appreciates the practicality of having a large cockpit since most costs, such as berthing, craneage, etc. are based on the boat's length.

He praises the boat's social area as well as the presence of a fridge and hob in the cockpit. The helm position is equipped with two comfortable seats, a chunky steering wheel, a Garmin plotter, a VHF radio, and other controls. The boat's feature of having four forward-facing seats is not commonly found on boats this size.

One of the most innovative features of the GT32 is the large opening door section which, when opened, creates a walkway to the front, maximizing the boat's deck space. He sees this as a clever use of space and cost-effective design.

Interior

The Beneteau 32GT has been cleverly designed for day use and occasional weekending, which is common for boats of this size. The boat's cabin features a large seating area that can convert to a double bed. There's also a mid-cabin with a large double bed, a changing area, and big windows for plenty of light.

The boat also features a small oven and another fridge, ideal for weekend trips. There's a curtain track that can provide privacy for those sleeping at the front end of the boat. Another highlight is the separate shower area in the toilet, which can be closed off to keep the rest of the room dry.

Performance

The boat features stern-drive engines which can either be Mercury 230 or 260 horsepower engines. The boat he is touring has a 230 horsepower engine that can still reach about 35 knots, with a cruising speed in the mid-20s, reaching a range of 200 nm. The engines have good accessibility, with enough space to stand and move around.

In Summary

Nick finds the Beneteau Gran Turismo 32 to be a thoughtfully designed and innovative boat that offers a lot of day space and can comfortably sleep four people.
