On deck, this American-built boat has a drop-down balcony and pivoting backrest, ideal for taking in the view. The enormous beam gives plenty of floor space so very easy to move around. The port-side seating pairs with a pop-up table for dining opposite a wet bar. While this model has no grill, options for a sink, fridge, and wine fridge are available.

The helm has comfortable seats and an all-digital control system, with navigation made easy by twin throttles and the Skyhook joystick system. The single-level deck extends to the bow, giving more living space with reclined seating and a stowable table, all without the hassle of steps.

Below deck, there's over 6ft of headroom and a double berth, with another double aft beneath the cockpit, but it's only separated by a curtain. Added bits like a fridge, microwave, and separate bathroom make overnight stays doable.

Reasons to Buy

  • Great party platform
  • Huge beam
  • Easy manoeuvring
  • Performance

Things to Consider

  • Doesn't feel a lot of boat for the budget

Forward, the saloon has a step-free design, where a large dinette on the port side offers flexibility with a foldout table that converts into a double berth. The lower helm proves to be a standout feature, simple & comfortable, with a big side door and gate offering easy access to the 42's asymmetric deck, making the vessel easy to handle solo.

Below deck, the three-cabin arrangement includes a twin cabin with ensuite access to a day head, a double cabin, and an owner's cabin at the bow & a private bathroom. The Swift Trawler has a flybridge, the only boat in our tour to have one, extends the exterior space upwards. The Fairline Targa 40 has been a shining star at the Düsseldorf Boat Show. It has a lot of innovation and luxury in a 40-foot package. The design, by Fairline’s in-house team and Slovenian outfit J&J, is impressive, with an upright bow and a swooping roofline.
