Sanlorenzo Alloy Rivals

Which yacht is best for you? As always, it’s all about personal choice. Some people choose a yacht on its characteristics (incidentally the Alloy has won a staggering 3 awards, most recently for "Interior Design over 40m"). Some people choose their yacht based on its power credentials and the fast displacement hull of the Alloy delivers speeds of up to 21 knots. Some may even choose their yacht based upon features such as: tri-deck design, five en suite cabins, nine-berth crew quarters, foredeck lounge, 20-knots performance and fast displacement hull design.

Accommodation

If accommodating guests overnight is your main concern, then the Sanlorenzo Alloy which offers well-appointed accommodation for up to 10 guests with its 5 cabin layout option does not match its rivals. Many of its competitors including the Gulf Craft 140 offer slightly more guest accommodation sleeping up to 14 guests in 7 cabins, making them better choices for those seeking to maximise the number of family and friends they can sleep onboard. However, for maximum comfort for the owner, the Alloy features a full-beam master cabin with an en-suite bathroom, a study and full-standing headroom and all cabins have dedicated en-suite bathrooms for family or guest convenience. Equivalently, the Sanlorenzo 46 and Mangusta 43 also offer 5 cabins, but with facilities for 10 guests, however they still offer an exceptional level of comfort for family or group vacations.

Performance

In terms of cruising performance, the Sanlorenzo Alloy leads the way with an impressive cruising speed of 18 knots thanks to its twin 1,920hp MTU 12V 2000 M96L engines and maximum speed of 21 knots at 2,450rpm. Closely followed by, the Sunseeker Ocean 460 with a respectable cruising speed of 12 knots. The Gulf Craft 140 also impresses with a cruising speed of 16 knots. On the other hand, for those not in a hurry the Mangusta 43, with the slowest cruising speed of 13 knots, emphasizes stability and comfort over outright speed and enjoying the journey over the destination.

Unique Characteristics

Each yacht also brings unique features to the forefront. The Mangusta 43 impresses with its extensive range of 4,500 nautical miles, ideal for long voyages. The Tankoa Yachts T450, Heesen 4200 and Gulf Craft 140 all feature shallow drafts for yachts of this size, allowing them to navigate waters inaccessible to deeper vessels. The Gulf Craft 140 focuses on performance and efficiency, with a cruising speed of 16 knots. Meanwhile, the Sunseeker Ocean 460 offers the best raw performance, with a maximum speed of 21 knots. The Azimut Grande 44M has an impressive gross tonnage of 499GT, the largest of the competitors here.

Summary

Despite stiff competition, the Sanlorenzo Alloy stands out with notable features and design elements. These yachts cater to a wide range of preferences and needs, making the choice a matter of personal taste and specific requirements in the world of luxury yachting.
