Absolute 47 FLY

YachtBuyer is the only place where you can directly compare competing yacht models, with full breakdowns on technical specifications and onboard features. So with YachtBuyer you can not only enjoy the best data and market activity on your chosen yachts but also how they compare to their closest rivals.

It's an interesting comparison between these two because Galeon 500 Fly shines on the deck but the Absolute has one of the best interiors in the class. Built in Poland but designed by Brit Tony Castro, the 500 Fly has a vast array of options that make the cockpit a seriously impressive living space.

The Absolute 47 Fly  is designed and built in Italy and with a beam of nearly 4.5m it's one of the most spacious boats in the sector. Its unique lower deck layout includes three cabins with an offset master ensuite forward, leaving space for a twin and double "mini master" amidships.

Performance

The Galeon offers shafts (up to twin 725hp Volvo Penta D11s) or IPS whereas the Absolute is only available with pod drives. The Galeon will top out at just over 30 knots with those larger engines and cruise in the low-mid twenties. Absolute offers just one IPS engine option for the 47 Fly and it's the relatively small IPS650s with 480hp for a top speed of 28 knots. Absolute designs pretty much the entire range to cruise at 22 knots, though, and the 47 will do just that.

Interior

The extraordinary volume of the Absolute 47 Fly is felt most acutely on the inside where there is plenty of space. It's bright, too, thanks to its large saloon windows and a light colour palette. Quality is also excellent - right up there with the best in this sector, in fact - and there is a reassuring feeling of solidity throughout.

The Galeon doesn't feel quite as expensive as the Absolute but it's not far enough and it has much greater scope for customisation than the Italian boat.

Accommodation

Both boats have three cabins and two bathrooms but the approaches are different. The Galeon has a straightforward layout with double cabins at either end, sandwiching a bunk bed third cabin. The Absolute has its angled master ensuite in the bow with a twin and 'mini master' sharing the space amidships.

Helm Station

Absolute design some of the best helm stations in the business and the 47's is no different. The side door adds a useful additional access point to the saloon and means the helmsman can easily hop out onto the side deck and help with crewing duties. It also provides easy natural ventilation.

The Galeon doesn't have a side door but it does have large electric windows on both sides of the saloon. The dashboard is more traditional than the Absolute's (there is still the plinth where earlier boats had a run of analogues dials) but everything is neatly presented through twin MFDs and it's easy to get comfortable.

Deck Areas

Here the Galeon reveals the ace in its hand because its deck spaces are exceptional. The folding terraces are an obvious USP but the rotating dinette with built in tender garage is also great, as is the modular foredeck. The Absolute's decks aren't as clever but they are spacious and peppered with practical detailing.

Flybridge

There's not much to separate these two boats up top. Both flybridges are large for the sector and mix a good blend of dining and lounging and both have wet bars. Both also have biminis as standard with the option to upgrade to a hard top.

The Galeon's main deck is a feast of clever features that make it a brilliantly sociable boat to live on board. If sleeping accommodation is important to you, though, the Absolute 47 Fly is a winner.
