Delivered in 1991, Away S is a 49.8m motor yacht built by Italian shipyard Codecasa. Her naval architecture and exterior design comes from the drawing boards of Codecasa.

Design & Construction

Designed around a full displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 9.3m beam and a 2.68m draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 618 GT (Gross Tonnes).

The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards. She was delivered to her owners in October 1991.

Exterior Design

The exterior design of Away S features a raked bow, contributing to its streamlined and efficient profile. The yacht utilizes teak for the deck material, ensuring durability and a classic nautical appearance. The hull and superstructure are both finished in white, providing a clean and uniform look. A black boot top stripe adds a distinct contrast, complementing the black color below the waterline.

The boat deck contains a 12-seater table and, when the yacht’s tenders are launched, offers ample space for dancing or parties. The deck is equipped with cranes that are discreetly enclosed within the structure to maintain a clean and unobtrusive appearance.

For additional outdoor dining, the aft-deck is fitted with an eight-seater table and occasional seating, providing an alternative setting for meals. The deck area above the boat deck includes a centrally-placed, raised spa-pool surrounded by sun-loungers, offering ample space for relaxation. A further sunbathing area is integrated into the superstructure above the bridge for those seeking more privacy.

Interior Design

The saloon, which spans an impressive 80 square meters, features mahogany paneling and parquet flooring, creating an ambiance reminiscent of an English country house. Traditional fabrics from Colefax & Fowler further enhance this atmosphere.

At the forward end of the saloon, a buttoned leather settee is positioned in front of a floor-to-ceiling paneled screen. This screen provides access to the dining saloon, which maintains the yacht's classical theme. The dining area features a starburst wooden floor that complements the veneer of the mahogany table. The table itself radiates outward from a central windrose inlaid with fine marquetry. Additional furnishings include an antique rosewood and yew sideboard and two finely crafted serving tables.

Accommodation

Away S can host a total of 12 guests across 6 cabins, ensuring a private and luxurious experience for everyone on board. The master suite is located on the forward part of the main deck. It is accessed through a study cum private lounge, which serves as a comfortable and secluded retreat. The lounge features an L-shaped settee, a bar, and a TV. The suite also includes a marble-floored bathroom with a spa bath and twin basins set in a marble top, and a separate room containing a shower, head, and bidet. The master stateroom itself is decorated with striped blue and white fabric wall-coverings and matching floral fabric for the curtains and king-size bedspread.

Four of the guest staterooms are located down a short flight of stairs from the starboard side corridor. These include two twin cabins, each with an extra Pullman berth, and two double cabins. Each guest stateroom is spacious and elegant, featuring an abundance of mahogany and individually decorated with patterned fabrics. All guest staterooms are equipped with en-suite facilities.

A further stateroom with a double bed and en-suite shower and head is located on the port side of the bridge deck, behind the pilot house and opposite the Captain's accommodation.

The crew is well accommodated, with the Captain occupying a suite on the bridge deck. The remaining 11 crew members share five twin-bunked en-suite cabins located in the forward part of the lower deck. The crew area includes a large mess room with its own galley and audio-visual entertainment center. This setup ensures that the crew has ample space to relax and perform their duties efficiently.

Performance & Capabilities

Motor yacht Away S is capable of reaching a top speed of 17 knots, and comfortably cruises at 15 knots. With her 113,000 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 7,485 nautical miles at 15 knots.
