Axis is a 55.3m motor yacht for sale delivered by Dutch shipyard Damen Yachting in 2016. Her naval architecture and exterior design comes from the drawing boards of Damen Yachting, while Dupuis Design is responsible for her interior design.

Design & Construction
Designed around a displacement steel hull and a steel / aluminium superstructure she features a 9.25m beam and a 3.66m draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 462 GT (Gross Tonnes).
This was the fourth yacht built on the YS 5009 design. Launched in September 2016 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months.
Exterior Design
The exterior design of the yacht Axis features a distinct axe bow and explorer-style structure. The hull is painted in black and white, with a lighter grey line that sweeps up toward the prow.
The yacht is equipped with multiple watercraft, including a submarine, extra tenders, and paddleboards, making it suitable for diverse marine activities. The flat boats are particularly useful for shallow waters like those in the Bahamas, where the vessel frequently travels.
Additionally, the Axis has container fixing points on the deck, providing adaptability for different purposes, including research. The vessel's draft is designed to optimize both stability and maneuverability, with 3.8m (12ft) at the bow and 2.8m (9ft) at the stern.
Interior Design
The interior design of the yacht Axis is straightforward and functional, aligning with its role as a support vessel. The primary lounge area features a substantial workspace, including a 55-inch touchscreen desk. This area is equipped with advanced navigation technology, eliminating the need for traditional paper charts. The integration of full expertise on-board systems ensures that all updates are maintained digitally, streamlining operations.
The vessel includes a multi-functional cinema area, utilizing a 4K projector positioned under a blast shield. Between two structural pillars, a large screen can be deployed for viewing films or presentations. This space can be converted to a lounge area by rearranging chairs, providing versatility in its use.
An AV rack system allows for the monitoring and distribution of audiovisual content throughout the vessel, ensuring that crew members and guests can access entertainment or informational content as needed.
The central control room is equipped with a comprehensive setup for managing the vessel's operations, including advanced radar and searchlight systems. The dynamic positioning system, originally designed for oil rigs, ensures that the vessel can maintain its GPS position accurately, even in challenging conditions.
Adjacent to the control room, there is a modestly equipped gym area, featuring a workout bench and weights, allowing crew members to maintain fitness routines during voyages.
The yacht also features a workshop equipped with essential tools and equipment for maintenance and repairs. This area includes a fueling system similar to a petrol station, facilitating easy refueling of tenders and other small craft.
Accommodation
Axis is equipped to accommodate a total of 20 members of the owner's staff and security team and seven crew. The yacht features six cabins, ensuring ample space and privacy.
Performance & Capabilities
Powered by 4 x diesel Caterpillar (3512C TA) 1,499hp engines, motor yacht Axis is capable of reaching a top speed of 20 knots, and comfortably cruises at 16 knots. With her 196,000 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 5,000 nautical miles at 16 knots.
