Design & Construction

Designed around a displacement ice class steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 10.4m beam and a 3m draft. The yacht has an internal volume of 670 GT (Gross Tonnes).

Construction started in late 2008 with the keel laid under the project name 'Vitruvius Explorer 55m'. Launched in July 2011 this yacht undertook sea trials over the following months. She was delivered to her owners in October 2011.

Exterior Design

The exterior design of Galileo features a clipper bow, contributing to its sleek and efficient profile. The deck is crafted from teak, known for its durability and classic appearance. The hull is classified for ice, ensuring it can navigate various challenging conditions safely. The hull's exterior is painted black, while the superstructure is white, creating a striking contrast. The boot top also features white, and below the waterline, the color returns to black, maintaining a cohesive and straightforward color scheme.

The upper deck includes a Portuguese bridge leading to a spacious foredeck above the owners' stateroom, suitable for various freestanding furniture arrangements. The aft section of the main deck is protected and can be fully enclosed, providing flexibility for different weather conditions.

The bow area is equipped with shiny windlasses and anchor winches, positioned a step below and well-protected by the high bulwark. The yacht's exterior design prioritizes functionality and clean lines, ensuring both practicality and visual appeal.

A distinctive feature of the upper deck is the curved glass windows that encircle the entire deck. These windows provide ample natural light to both the living room and the sophisticated wheelhouse, which is equipped with advanced navigation and monitoring systems from Sperry Marine.

Galileo's exterior includes two tender garages with openings on the port side and astern, housing various water toys and a 31-foot custom Zodiac Hurricane with a reinforced aluminum hull. Additionally, a forward tender bay accommodates the rescue tender.

Interior Design

The main deck includes cozy living and dining areas. A formal dining room is complemented by an informal breakfast room, which is conveniently served by the adjacent galley. A gym is located on the starboard side of the main deck, which can be easily converted into an additional guest cabin.

On the upper deck, the living room benefits from curved glass windows that wrap around the entire deck, ensuring ample natural light. These windows are also a feature of the sophisticated wheelhouse, which is equipped with advanced navigation and monitoring systems primarily by Sperry Marine.

Accommodation

Galileo offers accommodation for up to 10 guests in five suites. The full-beam owner's apartment includes a studio, a bedroom, and a spacious dressing room on the port side that leads to the bathroom. This suite is designed to provide a private and restful space for the owner, with ample natural light enhancing the overall ambience.

On the lower deck, amidships, there are four roomy cabins dedicated to family members or guests. These cabins ensure that all guests aboard enjoy a comfortable stay, with each cabin designed to meet high standards of comfort and privacy.

Galileo also includes large crew quarters designed to house up to 12 crew members. These quarters occupy more than one third of the lower deck, ensuring that the crew has the necessary space to perform their duties efficiently while also having a comfortable living area.
