Design & Construction

Designed around a displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 9.5m beam and a 3.5m draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 638 GT (Gross Tonnes).

Construction started in mid 2004. The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards. She was delivered to her owners in May 2006.

Exterior Design

The exterior design of My Fair Lady features a raked bow, giving the yacht a sleek and aerodynamic profile. The deck is constructed from high-quality teak, ensuring durability and a classic appearance. Both the hull and superstructure are finished in a sophisticated silver color, providing a cohesive and stylish look. The boot top is painted black, complementing the overall design and adding a striking contrast. Additionally, the antifoul coating is also black, maintaining the vessel's sleek aesthetic while ensuring functional protection.

The sundeck is laid out in an open and straightforward style with a large sunbathing area and comfortable sofas and tables grouped around the mast.

The main tender, powered by a Castoldi water-jet, is launched from the aft section using an overhead hoist. A smaller boat is housed in a shelter on the foredeck, which includes small platforms that swing out from the sides to provide a better view of the anchors. These practical features are designed for ease of use during various maritime activities.

The exterior seating, made from teak planking covered with black cotton sailcloth, is accented with chinchilla furs for added comfort. The teak planking used for the exterior decking continues into the interior spaces, creating a visual continuity and enhancing the perception of space. This design choice also makes the decks easy to clean and maintain.

Interior Design

The interior design of My Fair Lady is distinctive and rich in detail, reflecting a unique blend of modern and traditional elements. The décor, inspired by the owner Stefano Gabbana and executed by Lazzarini Pickering Architetti, employs a variety of luxurious materials to create an environment both functional and visually striking.

Upon entering the main saloon, one is immediately struck by the severe simplicity of the lines, which are always rectangular. The flooring throughout the yacht is teak planking, sanded smooth and waxed to give it a slightly polished appearance. This design choice extends the visual continuity from the exterior decks into the interior spaces, creating a seamless connection. The teak planks are paired with ebony strips instead of the usual rubber seams, adding to the aesthetic appeal while maintaining practicality.

The main saloon features a "catwalk" of black astrakhan running down the center of the teak floor, complemented by a dark mirror overhead. Continuous service modules along the sides provide lighting and air-conditioning, enhancing the room's functionality. The forward bulkhead, a dark mirror, supports gold-plated consoles designed to resemble bamboo canes. Seating primarily consists of low black benches, though a collection of antique baroque armchairs surrounds the simple oval dining table, adding a touch of historical elegance.

The saloon also houses a pair of antique mori statues, life-size figures of black men carrying large bowls, and various cabinets surfaced with eel skin. Black velvet and black silk shantung serve as the background for artworks, including pieces by Fontana, Haring, and Perego, which are vividly highlighted against the dark backdrop.

Moving to the upper saloon, the atmosphere is slightly more relaxed. The black eel-skin walls provide a dramatic setting for modern art, including an early Warhol. The furnishings here include jaguar, ocelot, and leopard-skin rugs casually placed on black sailcloth benches. A bar with a gold-leaf counter is present, though the usual bar clutter is kept out of sight. A large television, concealed within a cabinet, is available for entertainment.

The study features a simple rectangular desk covered with dark brown crocodile skin, flanked by antique chairs upholstered in brocade fabric. The desk is cantilevered from a shelf, maintaining the clean lines seen throughout the yacht. Lamps by Padua, designed as giant light bulbs, add a whimsical touch to the otherwise straightforward design.

Accommodation

My Fair Lady offers accommodation for up to 12 guests in 5 suites. The owner’s suite, located on the main deck, is a full-width stateroom designed with a minimalist yet elegant aesthetic. This expansive suite includes a king-sized bed, a large walk-in dressing room, and a private gym area. The suite is complemented by two identical bathrooms, each featuring rectilinear counters and washbasins carved from Portoro marble, complete with non-slip grooves for safety.

In addition to the owner’s suite, My Fair Lady has four guest cabins situated on the lower deck. Each cabin is uniquely themed and named after an animal, with custom sculptured door handles representing their namesakes: elephant, rhinoceros, crocodile, and giraffe. These cabins are decorated with materials such as eel and snake skins, and dark mirrors to enhance the sense of space. Ingenious design allows the walls separating the cabins from their respective bathrooms to slide away, creating a spacious 'open plan' layout when desired.

She is also capable of carrying up to 10 crew. The crew area includes a fully equipped laundry room and ample storage space. The captain's cabin, located aft of the bridge, is outfitted with the latest navigation and communication equipment.
