Design & Construction
Designed around a displacement aluminium hull and an aluminium / grp superstructure she features a 11.6m beam and a 2.9m draft. The yacht has an internal volume of 1,260 GT (Gross Tonnes).
Construction started in late 2000. The yacht was designed and constructed in compliance with the Lloyds Register technical standards.
Exterior Design
The exterior design of Nomad is both practical and sophisticated. Featuring a raked bow, the vessel exhibits a dynamic and forward-leaning profile, contributing to its efficient navigation through water. The deck is constructed from teak, a material known for its durability and resistance to the elements, ensuring longevity and ease of maintenance.
The hull and superstructure are painted in white, providing a classic and clean appearance. This is complemented by the black boot top and below the waterline color, which not only enhance the visual contrast but also serve practical purposes in marine environments. The hull finish employs Awlgrip, a high-performance coating renowned for its resilience and glossy finish, which adds a layer of protection and keeps the yacht looking pristine over time.
The main deck aft serves primarily as the boat deck, dedicated to storing the 12.8m sport fishing craft, No Rules, alongside a pair of jet-skis, a 7.6m Novurania Equator RIB, and an 8.8m Sea Vee sport fishing/diving tender. Two cranes are used for launching these vessels, which can tuck into the bulwarks when not in use. Once the boats are launched and an awning is erected, this area can transform into a venue suitable for hosting cocktail parties for up to 250 guests.
The upper deck is designated as the formal outdoor dining area. It includes a 14-seat dining table and two circular dining/sunbathing areas built into the wings extending aft around No Rules. Additionally, the upper deck houses a comprehensive barbecue facility, complete with grills, a rotisserie, hobs, a wok burner, and more.
On the sun deck, facilities include a large spa pool with sunbathing mattresses and a full-service pool bar. An observation deck wraps around the funnel, providing additional space for relaxation and viewing.
The upper deck overhangs aft on either side of the sport fishing vessel, creating an illusion that the superstructure is further back on the hull. This design choice enhances the yacht's profile while providing intimate dining and sunbathing spaces. The bridge, located on the upper deck, offers a guest seating area forward, providing an optimal view.
Interior Design
The interior design of Nomad focuses on comfort and functionality, utilizing high-quality materials and thoughtful layout considerations. Stained cherrywood paneling dominates the interior, providing a rich color and decorative molding that add to the space's overall aesthetic.
The main deck houses a formal saloon, incorporating two seating areas designed for social interaction and relaxation. Adjacent to this space is a spacious dining saloon with seating for 14 guests. This area is strategically placed aft of the entrance lobby and galley for easy accessibility.
Moving to the upper deck, a more casual lounge is available, centered around a large ottoman. This area provides a laid-back atmosphere for guests to unwind.
The third enclosed deck features a forward-facing observation lounge. This space is furnished in a smoking-room style with reclining leather chairs, ideal for relaxation. Additionally, this deck includes a cinema with art deco decoration. The cinema is equipped with a 154cm plasma screen, two double chaise longues, and a large sofa on a raised plinth, comfortably seating 12 guests.
Nomad's interior spaces are designed for guest comfort, with rooms sized proportionately to meet specific needs rather than to fill volume. This approach ensures a comfortable and homely environment. The interior decoration, primarily managed by Laura Norman of N I Designs, features comfortable settees, easy chairs, dining and occasional tables, and carefully chosen accessories sourced mainly from America.
The galley is equipped with MKN professional equipment and includes a bar-style, marble-topped guest area. This space can be used as a breakfast bar or for demonstration cookery, adding a functional and interactive element to the yacht's amenities.
Accommodation
Nomad provides accommodation for up to 12 guests. The main deck houses the master suite, which includes a study, a full-beam bedroom with a private lounge area, and a luxurious his-and-hers bathroom adorned with marble.
The lower deck features five guest cabins, each named after Australian cities. These include two large king-sized double cabins that span the yacht's beam, a queen-sized double cabin with a pullman bunk, and two cabins equipped with both a small double bed and a single bed. All cabins have ensuite facilities and excellent headroom.
Crew accommodation is also thoughtfully designed. The crew quarters include five double-bunked cabins with ensuite heads, ample floor space, and individual TVs. Additionally, there are two large cabins with double beds for married crew members, ensuring their comfort and loyalty.
The crew mess is spacious and includes practical touches like fabric bed heads. The lower deck also features a door connecting the guest cabin lobby to the crew mess, facilitating efficient servicing of guest spaces.
