Design & Construction
Designed around a displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 13m beam and a 3.15m draft. The yacht has an internal volume of 1,400 GT (Gross Tonnes).
Exterior Design
The exterior design of Project Opal has calm and elegant lines, which integrate within the sea environment rather than standing out. The styling aims to appeal with a look that avoids extremes and reflects current trends without quickly becoming outdated. The design follows the natural flow of waves and clouds, giving the yacht a sculpted appearance influenced by the wind.
Flared bulwarks on the upper decks enhance visibility for the bridge wing stations and expand the deck area around the owner's suite located forward on the upper deck. The layout also includes a sky lounge aft, which can be reconfigured according to the owner's preferences, transforming the entire upper deck into a private area with both a large aft deck and a forward cockpit lounge.
The top deck is functional, housing the wheelhouse and the captain's cabin, while also featuring an aft sundeck. Additionally, there is a hidden observation deck in front of the mast, which includes a spa pool.
Accommodation
Project Opal offers accommodation for up to 14 guests in 7 suites. The upper deck of the yacht is home to the owner’s suite, which is positioned forward to take advantage of expansive views. The suite's location allows for potential customization, enabling the possibility of converting the entire upper deck into a private owner area complete with a spacious aft deck and forward cockpit lounge.
For guests, the main deck forward accommodates six luxurious double cabins, each providing elevated views. This arrangement ensures all guests enjoy a high level of comfort and privacy. The lower deck has been primarily allocated to the crew, featuring multiple crew cabins, a mess, and the main galley.
Performance & Capabilities
Project Opal, constructed by Ares Shipyard, is a versatile 70-metre yacht offering various propulsion systems tailored to performance preferences. Engine packages can be selected to enhance efficiency or exceed hull speed by up to 30 percent. The yacht features a waterline length of 63.4 metres and a beam of 13 metres, with a maximum draft of 3.15 metres, ensuring accessibility to popular harbours and anchorages.
Potential propulsion options include Voith Linear Jets for mid-20-knot speeds. Additionally, hybrid and fully electric propulsion packages are available.
