The 63.4m expedition yacht SuRi was delivered to her owners in 1978 by Halter Marine. The yacht's elegant exterior design is by Joseph Artese Design, while her interiors are the work of Jeffrey Botwin.

Design & Construction

Designed around a displacement steel hull and an aluminium superstructure she features a 11.6m beam and a 3.35m draft. The yacht is built over 3 decks with an internal volume of 1,352 GT (Gross Tonnes).

Exterior Design

The structure of SuRi is marked by a sturdy hull capable of withstanding challenging sea conditions, reflecting its purpose as a vessel for adventure and discovery.

A notable feature of the exterior is the expansive hangar that occupies two-thirds of the yacht's length. This unique aspect of SuRi's design accommodates a wide array of exploration equipment and toys, including a seven-seat Eurocopter AStar 350 helicopter, a Robinson R44 helicopter for rescue operations in stringent environments like Antarctica, and a Triton submarine. The inclusion of a crane for the submarine further emphasizes the yacht's commitment to exploration and adventure.

The outdoor spaces on SuRi are thoughtfully arranged to enhance the guest experience. The yacht features an outdoor hot tub, providing a space for relaxation and leisure after a day of watersports or exploration. The sun deck offers panoramic views, inviting guests to enjoy the scenery in a tranquil setting.

SuRi is designed for adventure, featuring a robust hull with a vast hangar for helicopters and a submarine, complemented by luxurious interiors and extensive exploration capabilities.

Interior Design

The Sun Deck features a Panoramic Observation Lounge, offering expansive views of the ocean. This space is furnished with plush seating and utilizes natural light to create a welcoming area for relaxation or socializing.

On the Bridge Deck, the Sky Lounge serves as a versatile area where guests can enjoy cocktails, films, or quiet reading time.  Adjacent, the Glass Enclosed Lounge with full-height sliding glass windows merges indoor luxury with the allure of the open sea, allowing guests to experience panoramic views in a sheltered setting.

A unique feature of SuRi is the Underwater Viewing Media Room. This space is equipped with large windows in the floor for observing sea life and a movie screen, offering an immersive experience that bridges the gap between the aquatic environment and onboard luxury.

For wellness and fitness enthusiasts, SuRi provides a dedicated lower level with a Yoga & Massage Rooms, and Gym & Steam Rooms. The yoga studio and massage room cater to guests seeking relaxation and rejuvenation, while the gym and steam rooms are designed for those looking to maintain their fitness regimen onboard.

Accommodation

SuRi comfortably houses 12 guests in seven staterooms, each with it's own unique name.

At the heart of SuRi's luxury accommodations is the full-beam master suite. It features a large king-sized bed and is bathed in natural light from large windows, offering guests unobstructed views of the ocean. The suite includes a private lounge and office area, catering to both relaxation and productivity needs. The comfort extends to two ensuite bathrooms, with 'hers' featuring a tub and overhead shower and 'his' equipped with a shower.

The two VIP staterooms named Lagoon and Willow, are each furnished with a king bed and an additional small cot suitable for infants. These rooms are designed for luxury and comfort, with a compact work desk and a full bathroom that includes a tub and overhead shower. Large bay windows not only enhance the room's ambiance with natural light but also provide expansive views of the sea.

The Teak and Dune VIP Staterooms are located on the owner's deck. These rooms are versatile, with the Teak room offering the choice between one king bed or two single beds, while the Dune room features a luxurious queen bed. Both staterooms come with a full bathroom, including a tub and overhead shower, and large windows that offer guests stunning ocean views.

On the lower deck are the Seamist and Indigo Cabins, which can be configured with either a king bed or two single beds and include a full bathroom with a tub and overhead shower. Additionally, the yacht offers a convertible option in the form of a yoga studio that can be transformed into a children's bunk room or additional accommodation for staff, ensuring flexibility to meet the needs of all guests aboard.

Performance & Capabilities

Powered by twin diesel Caterpillar (3508C) 820hp engines, motor yacht SuRi is capable of reaching a top speed of 13 knots, and comfortably cruises at 11 knots. With her 241,256 litre fuel tanks she has a maximum range of 9,900 nautical miles at 11 knots.

Amenities

The yacht features a well-equipped gym, allowing her guests to keep up their fitness regimes at sea. Air conditioning offers increased on-board comfort. SuRi also features a deck jacuzzi for cooling off.
