ALMAX: Interiors of Sanlorenzo’s Methanol Fuel Cell Superyacht Revealed at Cannes Yachting Festival 2024

Sanlorenzo unveils the latest images of superyacht ALMAX, featuring a pioneering green methanol fuel cell system for increased sustainability.

At the Cannes Yachting Festival 2024, the first interior images of the 50m superyacht ALMAX from Sanlorenzo have been revealed.

Forming part of the Sanlorenzo 50Steel range, the yacht is the first to utilize a green methanol fuel cell system following a collaboration with Siemens Energy.

With an exterior designed by Zuccon International Project and interiors created by Lissoni & Partners, motor yacht ALMAX features five tiered off-set decks to create flowing indoor and outdoor spaces. A notable feature of the yacht is the Ocean Lounge at the aft, which unfolds to form a 135 square-meter beach deck when at anchor. Guests can then ascend to the spacious main deck salon.

One of the Sanlorenzo yacht's interior highlights, however, is a glass-sided staircase that allows natural light to filter through the interior, connecting areas from the lower deck's gym and spa to the upper deck's second salon. The main salon leads to a mezzanine-style middle deck, housing the formal dining area and an additional upper-deck salon.

The master stateroom, located on the middle deck of the superyacht, includes a private office, ensuite, and two dressing rooms. The suite features Japanese-style screens, dark wood walls, and unique wallpaper.

The upper deck, accessed by an internal staircase, includes the wheelhouse, an alfresco dining area, and a lounge. The deck is equipped with glass windbreak panels for comfort in cooler climates. The sundeck offers 360-degree views, a two-level offset concept with a pool, and a partially covered bow space with seating for sunbathing.

Designed in partnership with Siemens Energy, the carbon-neutral propulsion system uses a green methanol Reformer Fuel Cell that can produce up to 100kW of energy with the engines and diesel generators turned off. This enables motor yacht ALMAX to operate with zero emissions for about 90% of its usage time, reducing annual emissions by 20-30%.
