Benetti starts construction on custom superyacht 67m FB285

The Italian builder celebrated the laying of the keel on its latest project, which is expected to launch during the second half of 2022.

Benetti marked the start of the construction work on its latest custom superyacht, 67m (219.8ft) FB285, with the traditional ‘coin ceremony’ to celebrate the laying of the keel yesterday.

The event took place at Carpensalda’s shipyard in Pisa where FB285’s hull was started. The outfitting of the yacht will be performed at Benetti’s shipyard in Livorno.

FB285’s elegant exterior lines come from the pen of Giorgio M. Cassetta, with the custom interiors courtesy of Art Deco with the support of Benetti’s Interior Style Department.

Giorgio M. Cassetta commented: “The clear ideas and the personal wishes of the owners played a leading role in this project. I was fascinated by the suggestions they gave us, with careful attention to detail dictated by great experience, thanks to which we will create a yacht with an unmistakable design.”

Designed in line with the Owners’ requirements of “outstanding liveability to be able to spend long periods on board” the new yacht takes its inspiration from previous Benetti builds. It develops the theme of “circular windows” introduced on the award winning motor yacht 63m (206.7ft) METIS, with the large dining area bathed in natural light courtesy of 2m (6.5ft) diameter windows on each size. It is also based on the evolution of the FB284’s naval platform.

Sebastiano Fanizza, Benetti Chief Commercial Officer, expressed his joy at the yard’s latest project: “Designing and building yachts by interpreting our customers' desires drives us to always find original and functional solutions, it has been an extreme pleasure to do so for these specific Owners.” he said.

It is expected FB285 will be launched during the second half of 2022.

In common with the industry in general Benetti has rallied strongly against the Coronavirus pandemic and according to YachtBuyer intelligence it has a further 19 yachts expected to be delivered before the end of the year.
