CDM ‘exceeding expectations’ with three recent sales

The Italian shipyard has announced sales of a Flexplorer, Darwin 86 and RJ115 in recent weeks, as its range of explorer yachts continues to prove popular.

Cantiere delle Marche (CdM) has confirmed the strength of the marine industry after announcing the sale of three new yachts recently.

The most recent sale was its second Flexplorer model, 44m (144ft) MAVERICK, with the fourth Darwin 86 and the third in its RJ115 line also being added to its order book in the past fortnight. Its Flexplorer and RJ Lines are proving particularly popular, with the Italian yard saying they are “exceeding even our most optimistic expectations”.

The 44m (144ft) MAVERICK is a collaboration with Francesco Paszkowski and Margherita Casprini, who have penned her interiors and Hydro Tex who is responsible for her exteriors. Her experienced Owner intends to initially use the superyacht in the Mediterranean, before heading North to complete the Northwest Passage, a sea route that connects the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans through the Canadian Arctic Archipelago.

In keeping with her explorer capabilities, she comes complete with a custom-built A-frame crane, space to store a rescue boat, an ice-belt of 12mm steel plates and a 5,000nm range at a speed of 10 knots.

The third hull of the RJ115 has been sold to an Australian owner, with the explorer yacht also being a joint effort with Francesco Paszkowski and Hydro Tec. Marked out by a slender bow rake and an elegant profile with large side windows, the six-cabin yacht has a range in excess of 5,500nm.

The fourth Darwin 86 is another explorer yacht that features heavy involvement from its new Owner who wants to use her for long periods of cruising at the high latitude of the Northern Russian coastline. To account for this she will feature enhanced scantlings in the hull and rudders to cope with icy conditions, an upper deck stern terrace built-in steel instead of aluminum, heated floors and a closeable cockpit.

Vasco Buonpensiere, cofounder and Sales and Marketing Director at CdM, explained the popularity of its explorer yachts, saying: “All explorer yachts built by Cantiere delle Marche are renowned for their ingrained quality and superior technical equipment: they are second to none as for seaworthiness, redundant equipment, robustness of their steel hulls, large engine rooms and generous storage spaces.”

“We are very proud of the reputation we earned over the years and the market reacts positively to our commercial offer with the new ranges - the Flexplorer and the RJ line - that are exceeding even our most optimistic expectations. As for the Darwins, we can safely say that they actually became a point of reference in the explorer vessels market.”
