Nordhavn has revealed its N51 yacht is already proving popular with nine orders having been placed within a month of the first renderings being unveiled.
Details were released of the 15.5m (51ft) trawler yacht last month, showcasing a design inspired by its smaller sistership the N41. Like the N41 it is a production boat with an emphasis on a streamlined build rather than customization.
There are, of course, a good many options for buyers to enjoy and with nine orders taken already it seems people are doing just that, following the trend of its sistership. Nordhavn has reported 30 orders already being placed for the N41 since that was announced just over a year ago.
The N51 came about following requests from customers drawn to the N41 design, but who wanted increased space and a flybridge. The N51 will resemble other long-range cruising Nordhavns with her separate pilothouse, but her interior will mirror the finishes of the N41.
In keeping with many other Nordhavn models, the N51 also features an unusual asymmetric layout. On the port side, the saloon extends to the full beam of the hull, whereas to starboard it leaves room for a partially covered side deck.
Other Nordhavn design cues are the raised wheelhouse with reverse-rake windscreens, high foredeck and split-level flybridge with an aft deck crane for tender storage. Two ensuite double cabins can be found in the forward half of the hull.
Twin 160hp John Deere engines give a top speed of 10 knots and a cruising speed of 7 to 8 knots. The N51 is expected to have a range of 3,000nm at a slow speed.
Like the Nordhavn 41 the N51 is being built at its Balikesir yard in Turkey and the first hull is expected to launch next summer.
