When Vripack partnered with trawler builder Nordhavn in 2018, it introduced Dutch design to Californian long-range explorers.
Vripack undertook the interior design for the new Nordhavn 80 series, focusing on comfort, safety, and luxury. LADY DI, the third hull delivered in 2023, was the first to feature Vripack's interior, combining capability with Scandi-chic.
LADY DI's owner, Mike Kugler, a Nordhavn enthusiast, previously owned a Nordhavn 63. He sought a modern aesthetic for his Nordhavn 80, and Vripack's design met his needs perfectly.
Covid restrictions prevented Kugler from visiting the yacht during construction, so his first view of LADY DI was upon its delivery in California. However, he and his family visited Vripack's studio in the Netherlands for a two-day design session.
Welcoming the client to our studio provided the invaluable opportunity to run through all the necessary design details —the textiles, marbles, finishes, etc. — together, with samples that they could touch and hold, and get a real feel for their Nordhavn 80 interior."

The result is a warm and homely interior, a departure from Nordhavn's classic nautical style. The design features muted woods, neutral tones, and accents of daffodil yellow and midnight blue in the sky lounge. The main salon is family-centric with a contemporary aesthetic.
The only add-on was a hot tub on the flybridge, which Kugler enjoyed during the yacht's maiden voyage to the Sea of Cortez.
Kugler, who used to self-pilot his Nordhavn 63, now has a captain for LADY DI and plans to explore the Pacific Northwest and Alaska in the summer of 2025.
LADY DI's interior is so beautiful, and exactly how I pictured it from the renderings. We didn't even need to make any changes, we put all our effort into making sure the yacht was as close a match to Vripack's vision as possible, and it turned out perfectly."
