Pascoe International’s New 40-knot e-Limousine Tender

The e-Limousine tender, developed through extensive research, will reach a top speed of 40 knots and have a 60-mile range.

British tender builder Pascoe International has revealed that it is building the world’s first fully-electric limousine tender, in what it believes will be a “defining moment for the superyacht industry”.

The e-Limousine will be based on Pascoe’s popular SL platform and is the result of an extensive six-year research and development period. It will be set apart from similar craft in use or in development, by an advanced drive system that will transfer power more efficiently from the motor to the water and give the vessel a top speed of 40 knots.

The realization of a zero-emission at-point-of-use Limousine Tender with a top speed of 40 knots and a maximum range of 60 miles will be a defining moment for the superyacht industry."

In turn, this will lead to many other advantages in addition to the fossil fuel savings achieved by charging the tender from the ship’s power generation systems, rather than running it directly on diesel. The e-tender should be almost completely free from torque-related vibration transmitting into the hull, there will be a considerable reduction in noise both inside and outside the cabin and the electric motors will give a significant increase in acceleration compared to traditional stern drives.

To get to this point Pascoe’s technical team partnered with electrification specialists, propeller designers, battery manufacturers, and leading university research teams to look at everything from hull design to battery performance, as well as using data collected from the 27 Pascoe Limousine tenders currently in service.

Pascoe has also revealed that in light of stricter emission regulations being introduced across the globe, it will be offering full electric propulsion for its range of limousines and open tenders. The first electric limousine tender will accompany a yacht currently under construction at a major Northern European shipyard and is set to be delivered next year.

The e-Limousine truly signifies the beginning of a new wave of luxury water-borne travel."
