Italian shipyard Riva has launched the second hull of its 88’ Folgore flybridge yacht at its facilities in La Spezia. The 27m (88ft) flybridge yacht comes after the first hull, christened LIGHTNING, hit the water back in May.
Like her sister ship, this newly launched superyacht was penned by Officina Italiana Design. The design firm aimed to create “a sport-fly of dazzling beauty; a groundbreaking mixture of style, technology and innovative materials.” Large and angular jet-black windows sharply stand out from the shark-grey steel hull and a superstructure reinforced by carbon fiber.
The superstructure of this new hull has a large, sloping windscreen that blends into a glass roof, which Riva states will become a brand signature shortly. At anchor or when cruising along, parts of this roof can even swing open to give guests inside fresh air.
On the lower deck, the owner will find four guest cabins that, together, can accommodate up to eight guests. On standard Riva 88’ Folgore models, the owner’s suite is positioned amidships, so that the room can use the entirety of the 6m (20ft) beam.
[The] Riva 88’ Folgore is entirely focused on efficiency, with a design developed specifically to embrace materials like marble, crystal glass, and stainless steel, but without affecting performance."
This creates a lot of versatile space that can be used for freestanding furniture. There’s also scope for customization, with Owners able to get up to two ensuite bathrooms or up to two walk-in wardrobes, depending on preference.
The other three rooms include two VIP cabins and a twin cabin, each with an accompanying head. There’s also accommodation for a crew of up to four, which proves competitive with other flybridge yachts available to buy.
Atop the new yacht is the 20 sq. m (215 sq. ft) flybridge. Sofas fill the vast majority of this upper exterior space, with the one aft combined with a sunpad so that guests can truly unwind before a high and wide view over the stern. Meanwhile, the main deck features a combined main salon/dining area. The foredeck has a C-shaped sofa and a sunpad on the bow; the cockpit has a similar sofa with a dining table that can fold out to transform the space into yet another sunpad.
Those interested in purchasing a new yacht should know that, on standard 88’ Folgore models, the main deck aft comes with an ice-maker, fridge, and bar, as well.
Below, the stern opens up into a tender garage with a 6 square meter (64.5sq/ft) beach club. It can house a 4m (13ft) Williams SportJet 395 RIB and a jet ski. As standard, the 88’ Folgore is powered by a pair of 2,435hp engines, giving it a total output of 4,870hp. Combine this with the planing hull and the model has an impressive top speed of 36 knots, with a cruising speed of 30 knots.
