Vanadis wins at Boat International Design & Innovation Awards 2020

Fully custom CCN model VANADIS adds another prestigious award to her name as she wins the Eco Award at the Boat International Design and Innovation Awards.

Following on from the previous win at the World Yachts Trophies in 2019 in the Green Yachts category, Vanadis continues to impress judging panels with her multiple eco friendly integrations.

Designed by Studio Guido De Groot, 31m Vanadis was presented the Eco Award at Cortina d’Ampezzo during an elaborate awards ceremony.

Judges on the panel made their decision based on the outstanding levels of environmental sustainability displayed by Vanadis, and of course the factor of her being the first Italian vessel obtaining Hybrid Power certification from the Lloyd’s Register of Shipping.

Motoryacht Vanadis has the most comprehensive diesel-electric power system yet on a yacht of modest (31m) length and has the first Hybrid Power certification by Lloyd’s Register for an Italian-built yacht. Key to the success of the project was analysis of efficient power sources and distribution for all navigation and hotel loads based on the owner’s request for both fin and gyro stabilisation and great manoeuvring, including Dynamic Positioning.

This award makes us doubly proud. Winning is always an honour, because it is an acknowledgement of the good work accomplished by the Company and by all the people who devote their passion and commitment to it on a daily basis; but the motivation for this specific award is even more significant and rewards our Shipyard’s great efforts in research and development, aimed at creating technologically advanced products that are also environmentally-friendly.

With three cruising options available onboard including diesel, diesel electric and full electric mode, Vanadis is fitted with two Schottel STP 150 FP twin-propeller azimuth thrusters.

Ensuring minimal emissions, even when docked, a combination of both traditional diesel engines and electric engines equate to low consumption rates plus lessened noise and vibrations.

A further eco friendly installation of lithium-ion batteries also allows Vanadis to run on zero emissions for 17 consecutive hours while at anchor, or 180 minutes at limited cruising speed.

Now having more than one environmental award attached to her name, Vanadis continues to set the bar for green yachting.
