At the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, Viking Yachts honored 60 years with the announcement of their new 74 and 82 Convertible sportfishing yachts, alongside the latest Valhalla Boatworks models, the 28 Bay and 29 Hybrid.
Viking 74: Made for the Chase
Succeeding the Viking 72, the 74 achieves the same impressive top-end and cruising speeds thanks to its refined hull and advanced hydrodynamics. The sportfishing yacht for sale can also be equipped with engines up to 2600HP and features the Advanced Viking Propulsion System (AVPS) to enhance efficiency.
Step inside the salon, and you'll notice Viking's adherence to elegance and practicality. An electric sliding door leads into a beautifully crafted space with horizontal-grain natural walnut cabinetry. Here, an HDTV discreetly emerges and a port-side dinette with wraparound seating offers additional rod storage below a raised walnut dining table.
Moving to the cockpit, you'll find a 216-square-foot workspace designed for serious sportfishing. It includes in-deck fish boxes, mezzanine seating, and dry storage.
Viking Design Manager David Wilson notes the ambition of this sports yacht, stating, “the 72 was the fastest boat in [their] 60-plus-year history, and the 74 will certainly become the next speed king of the Viking fleet.” With a focus on efficiency, the team has carefully refined performance elements, including hull resistance, trim angle, and running surface modifications, to push the Viking 74 to new heights
Viking 82: Built for the Bold
The Viking 82 puts power and performance at the forefront. Twin 2635MHP MTU 16V 2000 M96L engines propel this beast to a top speed of 42 knots. Cruising comfortably at 36 knots, the yacht also benefits from the AVPS and cutting-edge Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software. The result? Optimized efficiency and reduced resistance.
Inside, the salon greets visitors with walnut cabinetry, an electric sliding door, and expansive windows. A wraparound sofa offering storage faces a pop-up HDTV, perfect for entertainment without clutter. The forward galley stands out with its ergonomic layout, featuring a double-bowl sink, Sub-Zero refrigeration, a trash compactor, and a microwave oven. The raised dinette on the port side creates an ideal spot for dining or socializing.
A full-beam master suite boasts a king-size walkaround bed, hanging closets, and a private en-suite head with twin sinks. With two additional queen staterooms and a crew cabin featuring upper and lower bunks, there's plenty of room for guests. A dedicated rod and tackle locker affirms the yacht's tournament-ready credentials.
The expansive 229-square-foot cockpit is equipped for serious fishing enthusiasts. You'll find in-deck fish boxes, a transom fish box/live well, and ample mezzanine storage. Meanwhile, the flybridge offers a walkaround center console with flush-mounted multifunction displays and a full-width helm platform, ensuring 360-degree visibility. Guest seating with storage beneath adds to the practical design.
Both the Viking 74 and 82 are available in Open, Enclosed Bridge, or Sky Bridge models with customizable power options. It's fair to say both yachts set a new standard for tournament-ready vessels, a fitting achievement as Viking Yachts celebrates its 60th anniversary
