World’s largest composite new build yacht unveiled to the public

The 54m (177ft) Majesty 175 was on display at Dubai Harbour over the weekend. The 780GT is Middle-Eastern based yacht builder Gulf Craft’s flagship yacht.

After four years in production the world’s largest new build composite superyacht was finally on show to the public this weekend.

The 54m (177ft) Majesty 175 is also Gulf Craft’s largest-ever superyacht and has been the source of much interest since she was announced at the Monaco Yacht Show in 2016. Over the weekend the 780GT motor yacht was on show to the public for the first time at Dubai Harbour.

A selected group of dignitaries and high-ranking officials took a tour of the superyacht before it demonstrated its capabilities by venturing out into the Arabian Gulf. The event was organized by builders Gulf Craft and the Dubai Department of Tourism & Commerce Marketing (Dubai Tourism).

Gulf Craft Chairman Mohammed Alshaali expressed his excitement as the Majesty 175 takes another step towards her delivery:

“The Majesty 175 cements the reputation of Gulf Craft as a leader in the global yachting industry and underlines the nation as a leading yachting destination” he said. “We create exceptional vessels that will delight yachting enthusiasts across the world. Gulf Craft invested nearly four years of effort to building this vessel, quicker than the normal timeframe, despite the challenges of the pandemic. With the regional premiere of the Majesty 175 at Dubai Harbour, we are reiterating the appeal of the country as a full-fledged yachting destination.”

In contrast to aluminum or steel, often used as yachts reach the 50m (164ft) mark, the Majesty 175 has been built using advanced composite materials, such as carbon fiber and vinyl ester. This contributes towards her shallow draft of just 2.05m (6.7ft).

Her highlights include a 5m (16.4ft) infinity pool at the forward deck and a hybrid skylounge that can be converted to an open sun deck. She can accommodate 14 guests across seven staterooms.

Her exterior and interior design are from the pen of the Cristiano Gatto Design Studio, whilst naval architecture is courtesy of Massimo Gregori of the Yankee Delta Studio. The Majesty 175 has a top speed of 16.5 knots and a cruising speed of 10 knots, with a 4,000nm range.

Whilst the Majesty 175 is the world's largest new-build composite yacht, she doesn't quite take the title of the world's largest composite yacht currently on the water. That title falls to 'Lady A' delivered by Sterling Yachts in 1986, which, at 55.2m (181ft) and 879GRT, beats the 175 on length and volume..

The 175 is part of Gulf Craft’s Majesty range which comprises five models that vary in size, the smallest is 15m (49ft) in length, but all share the same build quality and design philosophy. The yard already has an impressive fleet, and has announced its intentions to be one of the top five shipbuilders in the world by 2025.
