Princess Yachts History & Heritage
In 1965, the inception of Princess Yachts as Marine Projects (Plymouth) Ltd marked a pivotal moment in yacht history.
Founded initially for technical maintenance and chartering of the Project 31 yacht, Princess Yachts swiftly pivoted to yacht sales, crafting and selling over 150 yachts between 1966 and 1969. In 1970, the iconic Princess 32 marked a turning point, becoming a best-seller with over 1200 units sold in the following decade.
The 1980s defined Princess Yachts, emphasizing salon detailing in every model. The Princess 45, unveiled in 1981, achieved sales of over 900 units in nine years, while the '80s set the stage for flybridge yachts based on the Princess 37. In 1980, the Princess 30DS showcased innovation, designed by Bernard Olesinski, solidifying the brand's commitment to excellence.
The '90s introduced Princess V class sport yachts and the first "Metre" yacht, Princess 20 Metre, showcasing versatility. The 21st century brought milestones like the mass production of Princess V65 in 2000 and ISO14001 certification.
2011 highlighted innovation with the unveiling of the Princess 32M. In 2012, Princess Yachts excelled with the V39 and groundbreaking Princess 40M, the largest superyacht. Accolades included "Best Sportcruiser 45 ft+" for Princess V52.
Continuing excellence in 2013, Princess Yachts introduced models like Princess 52 and 88 Motor Yacht. The Princess 40M earned the World Superyacht Award, and V39 retained "Best Sportcruiser Under 45 feet." In 2014, Princess S72 debuted, and accolades continued with Princess 43 and 56.
2015 celebrated the 50th anniversary, marked by the renovated Project 31 and Princess 35M. Princess 40M won "Best Semi-Custom Yacht (25m+)" in 2015. In 2016, the Princess 75 Motor Yacht and 30M M class superyacht were introduced.
2017 brought more accolades, with Princess Yachts - 75 Motor Yacht and V58 - winning "Best Yacht of the Year." The record-breaking year saw the order book surpassing 1 billion dollars.
Today, Princess Yachts is a bespoke luxury yacht manufacturer with 20 models and a global network of over 50 distributors.
