On Deck

At the stern, the boat's design allows for easy walkaround access to the outboard engines.  This is at a contrast to smaller models that require a more circuitous path. The retractable section of decking at the back facilitates engine tilting, and the drop-down balcony, which doubles as a side door when raised.

The yacht's cockpit features an L-shaped seating area with a versatile table and ample shade. The use of space is very clever, as there are no engines underneath the cockpit, leaving room for substantial storage.

On the flybridge, there is ample seating and sunbathing areas, a wet bar, and a helm station, all benefiting from the yacht's space optimization strategies. He admires the wide side deck on one side of the yacht, contrasting it with the narrower deck on the other side, which still remains functional.

Interior

Inside the yacht, Nick is enthusiastic about the interior layout, pointing out the all-electric cooking facilities, air conditioning, and ample storage space, including neatly organized bins for cutlery and waste. He demonstrates how the seating can be rearranged to connect the interior with the cockpit, creating an expansive and versatile living area. The raised co-pilot seat allows passengers to enjoy the journey alongside the helmsman.

At the helm, the quality of the fixtures has been upgraded, and the side opening door is found very practical for maneuvering the boat, especially when operating short-handed. The joystick control and throttle's positioning are praised for their accessibility from the side deck.

Down below, there are three cabins, with special note to the spacious owner's suite with an impressive large en-suite shower. The guest cabins are practical and flexible, for example, the third cabin can be used for storage or converted into a double berth.

Performance

The Beneteau Antares 12 makes a feature of its twin Mercury V10 400 horsepower outboards.  These engines can give a top speed of 34 knots. With a cruising speed in mid-20s, a range of 150 nautical miles can be achieved.  There is the option for triple 300 horsepower engines to be installed for increased speed.

In Summary

Nick's overall impression is that the Beneteau Antares 12 successfully blends modern innovation with traditional aspects, creating a boat that looks and performs in a contemporary manner while still incorporating classic elements.
