On Deck

The Galeon 405 HTS has a spacious and well-designed exterior with smart features. The drop-down bathing platform at the stern provides easy water access, while a small garage is positioned at the back, designed for storing paddleboards and other gear rather than a tender. This garage opens sideways, which is unusual but offers practical storage.

A key feature is the sliding roof system, with two large sections. The aft section slides back to create an open cockpit, and tracks for canopies allow the entire area to be enclosed if needed. The helm area also has a forward fabric sliding roof, which concertinas back to maximize the open-air feel without compromising space.

The seating area in the cockpit is adjustable. The whole section slides outward, and the backrest drops down, turning it into a large sun pad. In its standard position, it creates a spacious lounging area alongside the extended bathing platform.

On the port side, there’s a wet bar with a built-in barbecue, sink, fridge, and storage. A large day bed is positioned next to the helm, offering a comfortable place to relax while underway. This section also provides additional headroom for the mid-cabin below.

The foredeck has a modular sunbathing area, split into three sections. The centre panel can be removed to allow light into the forward cabin or left in place for an uninterrupted sun pad. The anchor winch is located beneath a hatch, and an emergency exit hatch from the forward cabin is hidden within the sun pad cushions.

The side decks are wide and well-guarded with rails, allowing easy movement around the yacht without compromising interior space.

Interior Accommodation

The saloon has quite a conventional sports cruiser layout, with a central dinette, a forward cabin, and an aft cabin. However, it stands out by having two separate heads, a rare feature on a yacht of this size.

The space feels particularly bright due to the large glass sections in the ceiling. The glazing at the helm extends into the saloon, allowing light to flood in, and large hull windows add to the airy feel. There are blinds for privacy when needed.

The galley is compact but well-equipped with an electric hob, a fridge, a freezer, and ample storage. Cabinets line the space, including a hidden drawer for additional storage. A TV is positioned within the saloon, and a switch panel houses the yacht’s electrical controls, including lighting, the VHF radio, and the Fusion stereo system.

Owner Cabin

The forward cabin is a generous size, featuring a bed positioned centrally. A large amount of glass overhead allows natural light in, though sunbed cushions on the foredeck can block this when in use. Blinds provide further control over light and privacy.

The cabin has a modern aesthetic, with light wood finishes and a neatly designed headboard. A small dressing table with soft-close drawers is located on one side, and an illuminated hanging locker offers storage. A TV is mounted opposite the bed.

The ensuite is well-appointed, with a separate shower area, a toilet, and a sink.

Guest Accommodation

The aft cabin is a highlight, with a layout that prioritizes space and comfort. The bed is positioned lengthways, making it easier to access compared to crosswise layouts. There's also a seating area and a large wardrobe.

Hull windows provide some natural light, and there’s an additional ensuite bathroom, making this a private and comfortable space for guests. Having two heads on a yacht of this size is a significant advantage, allowing guests their own facilities without having to share.

Performance

The Galeon 405 HTS is powered by twin Volvo Penta D4-320 engines. It has an estimated top speed of around 30 knots, with a comfortable cruising speed of 20 knots to 25 knots. The range is expected to be approximately 200 nautical miles.

A generator is installed, allowing for independent power generation to run onboard systems, including air conditioning and hot water.

Access to the engine room is through a floor hatch in the cockpit, suitable for daily checks. For major servicing, the entire aft moulding can be raised, providing excellent access to the engines, fuel tanks, and batteries.

In Summary

The Galeon 405 HTS is a well-designed 12.2m (40ft) sports cruiser that manages to pack in a lot without feeling cramped or compromised.  The cockpit is a highlight, with its sliding seating arrangement and open, airy feel. Having both a forward and aft sliding roof is a nice touch, giving the option for as much or as little exposure as you want.

Inside, the amount of natural light makes a real difference, particularly with the oversized hull windows and glass ceiling panels. The two-head layout is a surprise for a boat this size and a definite plus for practical living.   Performance-wise, it’s what you’d expect from a sporty cruiser, with enough speed for fun but also a comfortable cruising range.  Overall, it’s a great balance of practicality, style, and smart thinking. It feels like Galleon has made use of every inch of space without cutting corners, and that’s what makes it work so well.
